Hands-down the best chimney company in Maryland. When I shared my concerns about my sweeping, Stefan, the owner, came out himself to sweep my chimney. He not only did an excellent job, but also pointed out potential flaws in my old fireplace - and how to fix them on a budget. Call them today!
Not worth the headache. They came out to do an estimate, I agreed and signed a contract. They then came back to do the work and a 3 year old could have done better work. They didn’t complete 3 of the 5 items on the contract and the jobs they did complete were done poorly, multiple times. This job required a skilled carpenter, but they sent wreck-it-Ralph. Large gaps were visible so much so that I could see outside and feel cold air entering my home. Also, they removed and replaced a ceiling joist, but the joist wasn’t even touching the ceiling. I could put my entire pinky finger between the joist and the ceiling. To fix it they came back out and sprayed foam or used caulk to fill gaps and didn’t even finish the job again. 3 times they came out to fix the issues, 3 different carpenters and they still couldn’t fix the issues properly. One of the carpenters even used my scraps of wood that were laying near the job site. I called to complain and I waited weeks to speak to an owner. Eventually they refunded my money, but it was not worth the headache they caused. If they can’t complete the work per their own contract, then they have major problems as a company.
When we moved into our home, we discovered the 38-year-old wood-burning fireplace leaked every time it rained and was in sorry shape; we knew it needed replacing. We called American Professional Chimney and Masonry, and Stefan & his team were wonderful to work with. Stefan was very patient in answering our many questions regarding the process involved in replacing the old fireplace. They removed the old mantel and demoed the fireplace and chimney piping. It was replaced with a prefab wood fireplace & all of its components. We decided to have a new gas line installed with vented gas logs. Stefan was very helpful in advising us about the permits & inspections along the way. The new mantel and granite surround look quite beautiful! We love our fireplace and use it often. They did an excellent job from start to finish, and we would call them again for any future work in a heartbeat!
I cannot say enough good things about everyone at American Professional Chimney & Masonry. I sit on the Board of Directors of a 100+ yr old condo building and the age of the chimneys required an extremely invasive, months-long, full-scale replacement of chimney flues and lines to ensure building safety. Long story short, the process was very smooth, on time, and the crew was very pleasant to work with. Best of all, fantastic communication from Stefan and the APC leadership. There was honestly some doubt over whether any chimney company could do this project well given how difficult it was, but APC truly impressed.
American Professional Chimney & Masonry installed a vented gas fireplace in our second-floor den. They did a fantastic job and I highly recommend them. The project was led by Stefan plus a great team of workers who specialized in everything from chimney liner installation to masonry, tiling and gas piping. They also obtained the permits and scheduled the inspections. We ran into a major issue when they discovered a slow leak in the existing gas line to the den, requiring a change order to pull a new gas line. This added both time and cost but was a reasonable extra amount. They had to cut three largish holes in the ceiling and walls underneath the den and by prior agreement I assumed the cost of repairing those. The best aspect of the team was Stefan. He knows his stuff, has a happy crew that does high-quality work, is very communicative and responded quickly and clearly to all my questions and concerns -- no matter what time of day or night. The project took five weeks from start to finish but that included the extra gas line work plus several no-work days while waiting for the four DC city inspections -- including an entire week at the end. We are thrilled with our fireplace and have enjoyed it over many chilly spring nights since the work was completed. I would hire this team again in a heartbeat.
