Montclair Shoe Repair

Absolutely the worst experience of had with any retailer. I dropped my boots of 2 months ago. The shop was rarely open despite the posted hours. I paid $60 up front (that’s all I had at the time and their card reader never works) and agreed to pay the rest upon completion. Today I FINALLY caught them when they were open. My boots had not been re-soled. I informed the owner that I would need a refund. He asked where my receipt was, even though he never gave me one. When I requested a refund because the work had not been performed, he refused to give me my boots, and, in very Bobby Hill fashion, shouted “I don’t know you!!” I informed him I would not be leaving without my boots. He suggested I call the police, which I did. (Never got past being on hold). I finally relented and asked that he give me $45 back. He agreed (after MUCH arguing). Long story short, he kept my boots for 2 months (I must have gone there 12 times checking and every time they were closed), did not complete the repairs and refused to refund me. The man is a crook and will rob you any way he can. I recommend avoiding this place at all cost. Unless, of course, you like wasting time AND money.

I had a horrible experience here. He is way overpriced and ruined a pair of books by spraying a paint on them to “clean them up.” Didn’t replace the rubber heel but nailed a piece of plastic to the bottom. I left the shop and immediately drove to Rockridge Shoe repair to get help. He confirmed that the shoes had been painted and was very confused why a plastic heel had been nailed instead of Replacing the rubber heel (charged $24 for this). The owner at Montclair would not refund my payment or take the paint off (said there was no paint). I paid the owner of Rockridge shoe repair half to undo and redo all the work.
