19 years ago, I proposed to my wife with the best ring I could afford at the time. It was simple, with a very small diamond chip, but she loved it for what it represented and never once complained. After years of talking about an upgrade, I finally surprised her with a half-carat diamond for Christmas. The one requirement was that her original engagement band had to stay, since it meant everything to her. That’s when we realized how challenging the project was. Setting a much larger diamond into the original band wasn’t easy, and then we found Catarina.
