The day I signed the lease for an extremely overprices small 2 bed 1 bath house 800sq ft, ($989/month in 2023), I questioned why he demanded a 1 and a half months rent deposit as opposed to the standard 1 month rent that everybody else I had ever encountered required, and he said, "I'm not in the business of taking peoples deposits." LIES. I paid every rent, even pet rent and a pet deposit for a tiny dog that did no damange and he kept my deposit after i extensively cleaned the house and removed everything. And now he's even added on almost $300 dollars for made up reasons and sent it to collection. So the $1800 deposit he kept for a 900$ a month house wasnt even enough. Now hes trying to get $300 more and its affecting my credit. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE FRAUDS. Rent directly from a reputable owner. Unbelievable and definitely deserving of the average rating of a 2 stars, considering I'm sure the only good reviews they got were doctored from friends and family.
Worst rental experience ever. Rented for only one year and at the end of the year they kept the entire deposit which was equivalent to 1 1/2 months rent. About 1500 dollars. They never communicated to me why and then they had the audacity to try to get another 277 2 years later. Beware of fast talkers!
Stear clear of the cooper rd house!
Generally a bad experience. I moved in with mold in the bathroom and asked for it to be removed repeatedly and they repeatedly ignored me. It took them over a month th to respond. They also were in violation of the lease agreement from day one. Not until I told them i would be withholding rent did they do anything to fix the issue.
I would recomend finding literally anyone else's property to look at. These people will lie to you just like they repeatedly lied to me.
Edit: I emailed asking about a tree branch I was told would be removed, and Christy told me she would get back to me. She did not. I reminded her that she never got back to me, and she made excuses and told me she would get back to me about it. That was almost a year ago. Has not been a good experience at all. It sure seems like they're trying to lose out on long-term renters by dismissing them all the time.
The blue house on Wacousta Rd has MICE. My boyfriend & I lived there less than a week. When I did the original walk through there were tenants occupying the house so I couldn’t do an extensive search.
The first day we moved in I was doing a deep clean as it seemed it hadn’t really been clean, I looked on top of the cabinets above the stove & saw lots of mouse droppings. I cleaned the area & thought maybe it was a past problem? Not many people think to clean above the cabinets. I cleaned it up and as I was cleaning off the counters, stove, & inside the other kitchen cabinets I kept finding traces of mouse poop. Obviously I cleaned it, and just made sure to be careful as far as picking up crumbs, not leaving out dog food, taking all precautions to not have mice be out.
We started noticing more mouse droppings in areas I cleaned, I called the office & they said Kip would come the next day. I called them back asking he come the same day because I just did not feel comfortable or sanitary and needed the problem taken care of immediately. He came out & just threw a few mouse bait bags behind appliances & in the crawl spaces in the basement. Which if the mice did eat that and die they could potentially die inside the house & cause an odor and more bugs (there was also a bug problem). He didn’t investigate to see where they were coming from to seal off entry points.
Just warning anybody who is looking to rent this house because they have it listed right after we moved out.
I am thankful that we were able to terminate the lease & get our money back because it put us in a hard spot to hurry up and find a new place to live. But, I WOULD NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN.
Adding a few pictures of the mice droppings, & also there was moldy dog feces in the basement. They came the same day I reported it BUT the “cleaner” came with a small little scrubbie brush & some disinfectant spray. It should have been professionally cleaned since concrete is porous & absorbs.
I had one of the worst experiences living in one of the Renaissance property Management apartments. I lived on East Clark Street in Lansing, MI. And it was one of the worst years of my life. It was one of the only apartments available at the time in 2022. I don't want to completely blame the property managers as they were doing their best to fix this apartment building. But they warned me before I even did my first tour that the apartment building used to be full of drug trafficking, drug addicts, and felons. They told me that they were trying to get rid of the last of those tenants that were there so that they could finally revamp it for the better. This building was so old that the brick siding was falling apart. The parking lot was basically a swamp half the time. Every single time I pulled into the lot I would hit the bottom of my car. We had many uncomfortable confrontations with neighbors asking us for drugs, food, and money. It got to a point where we stopped opening our door for others. I was scared to even walk by myself into the apartment building. There are many times we eyewitnessed drug drop offs and people that didn't live in the building coming in and out. The worst thing of all was the bed bugs. We had bed bugs almost the whole time we were there.. originally we thought it was our fault. But come to find out, when the services would come out to spray our apartment. They have to do it to every other apartment. We would do the regular routine of cleaning absolutely everything we owned. Even our furniture. It didn't matter, they would always come back full force. I would get bit like crazy as well as my boyfriend. The service worker basically told us that no one else in the building is taking the same precautions. Just about everyone else in the building was section 8, so they probably didn't have the resources to do so. It was a really uncomfortable experience. By time we moved, we had to toss our large couch, cat tree, and even our mattress as we couldn't carry the mind space that we were free of them. It burned a hole in our pocket to do so. It was nice that the apartment people were able to pay for the services, but everything else was out of our hands. It got to a point where we moved out a month early because we were so incredibly unhappy. We were paying almost $800 a month for this apartment. It was only a one bedroom, one bath, with a very small kitchen. It worked for the time being, but we even felt there could have been some paranormal entities in our apartment as my boyfriend and I had both experienced sleep paralysis. It was something neither of us experienced before. There were so many uncomfortable encounters with neighbors stealing your mail, neighbors asking for stuff from you, and so much more. They obviously were trying to make the building better but it just wasn't for us. We didn't have the patience to stay another year, and it felt like we wasted our money living in a place that made our physical and mental health deplete entirely. Even when I toured other apartment buildings, they all needed some kind of revamping. Many of them are out of date and need so much work. Just be cautious when working with them. I know my review is a year or two late but, so I hope progress has been made and no one else had to experience what we did.
