Do yourself a favor and visit the Better Business Bureau website and search up Music and Arts. I had entered into a rental contact for my daughter and when it came to purchasing the instrument using the equity I had acquired, I spent about an hour in-store with the associated looking at what would fit best for my daughter who wanted to continue into HS but probably not beyond. I was given a recommendation of a used instrument that was a good brand but used so that it would result in me paying just under $300 more. We paid, shook the had of the associate who said, "congratulations as the proud owner of your violin!" Fast-forward 5 months later, I noticed recurring charges showing up on my account. I called and was told by the employee, "You know, we accidentally gave you an instrument that was worth more than what you were quoted so you can either bring back the instrument and trade it in for a lesser model, or pay the remaining amount you owe of $120.84 (in addition to the 4 payments they had already charged my account of approx $160). I informed them that it's not my fault that the associate sold me the wrong instrument but you don't come back to a customer 5 months later and the start charging them and asking to pay more. I called the Frederick MD office on 03/05 and spoke with a YOLANDA who was incredibly rude and told me re: my refund, "That's not going to happen" and if I didn't pay, the payment would be sent to collections. Then in the mail I receive a letter from collections saying that on 03/05 I was reported to collections. On 03/05 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and wouldn't you know...since January 2026 there are 20+ complaints on their website talking about the SAME EXACT SITUATION that I had complained about. AND it goes on for over a year prior! It's a shame because the young people who work for the store seem so great. But the owners seem to have incredibly unethical business practices. Beware of starting your child's music journey with this establishments. And CHECK THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU'S WEBSITE - do your research.
