I love geek world and I remember when it was a cool enthusiast spot. It still has (some) friendly employees and an O.K. vibe, but their prices for sealed product are absolutely ludicrous. I understand charging market for hard to find cards, but 200% *market* upcharge is just scalping in shopping center rather than online. Any question as to why their prices on magic, pokemon, and one piece are 1.5-2x MARKET (as in they charge 1.5-2x what scalpers online want) is met with the response: βwe have to charge this much because of what we pay our distributorβ Who is the distributor? A random guy on eBay? The craziest part of all of this is that youβre .1 miles away from a Walmart that sells the cards for 1/3 the price and always has stock. Ive seen you confidently sell a man a box of cards that can be had all day for $100 online for $220+ tax and act like itβs some kind of rarity to have it in stock. You take advantage of uninformed and gambling prone folks. Not cool. Oh, and letβs not mention 50% trade in store credit on cards when basically everywhere else on earth is paying 60-80% cash. There was a time this place was dope. Iβve spent $1000βs here. Itβs sad to see this from an owner who I grew up thinking was a true supporter of the tcg hobby.
