This company refinished our floors all last week. Very displeased with not only their workmanship but how the owner, Josh, refused to admit they did a poor job. Once I sent him photos, he finally admitted to those mistakes but refused to take responsibility for other things. They didn't move the refridgerator, so the old dark stain is still visible next to it and remains underneath. He responded by saying he told me they don't move appliances and it was still there. Problem is he never told me that. When midway through the week and they were ready to stain, he casually mentions his supplier won't have the Bona stain so I have to pick from another company. Poor planning and business. Really bad communication and he doesn't have a contract, even after more than a decade in business (red flag). They finished their work and old stain remains visible around floor perimeter, and the quarterround and walls are damaged. They said they'd replace 2 handrails and didn't, leaving our old ones sanded down from smooth to rough... Awful. Many more issues with their work that the judge will hear all about, as well as the Alabama Licensing Board. He is refusing to negotiate a settlement amicably between us and demands full payment by tomorrow afternoon or he will put a lien on our house, he says. Even while missing many spots and damaging my house, which he admitted to in writing. On side notes, they left many cigarette butts on our driveway and street, leaked oil in multiple spots from their vehicle(s), left the house empty without locking the front door, and their name is a misnomer... There was a thick layer of dust over everything every day they sanded, even inside kitchen cabinets. We breathed it into our lungs all week. Also, he cancelled first appointment 10 minutes prior, then was a no show when we rescheduled, saying he forgot. RED FLAGS! I'm now preparing for court and am looking for new flooring. We wish we'd never heard of them.
Would have loved to know BEFORE hand that the prep work done by Josh would NOT include removing any paint dots on the floor before the polyurethane sealed the paint onto the hardwoods. Would have liked a return visit to correct the missed section in the dining room and maybe something could have been done about the extra thick layer of poly at the front door. I think an excellent job COULD have been achieved with better communication but instead I'm left with frustration and dismay, paint dot, swirls and bare boards.
