Dothan Ace Hardware

Only a 3 star as it felt average. I prefer hardware stores to Big box home improvement because of the out of the norm things you'll find that you dont expect. Nothing bad about the store or experience, that particular day I was looking for some specific wire connections for a small gage control/communication wire, and a specific shark bite fitting i now have to order at Lowes as they don't keep on shelf, but they always had the ones at my ace up north. No biggie I'm sure it wss some stuff that didn't move with great volume but that's again the hw storm benefit maybe not a huge quantity of everything but a greater width of selection.

in October 2025 I visited this local Ace Hardware. Having had multiple neck surgeries in August, I am unable to drive and finally found someone nice enough to drive me. I got to the store 7 minutes before closing and the doot was locked and No one could be seen in the store. I knocked and knocked and nobody came to open the door so I decided to call the number listed on the website. After about 15 rings , a lady answered the phone claiming to be security. I was like is everything OK because the doors are locked? The lady said yes but we are closed. I told her it wasn't closing time yet and what I needed was right by the front door and would only take a second. I also told her I had been knocking on the door...again she said "we are closed and come back the next day. After saying i got there in plenty of time before closing and she basically called me a liar and hung up in my face! I saw 4 other cars pull up and leave within the time I was standing there knocking. I believe in supporting small businesses and have always like the friendliness and service Ive always gotten from Ace. After this experience I will NEVER shop with you again!!! I was gonna let this go but everytime I pass yout store, I am reminded of this ordeal. I would've given you a 1 star rating but I do understand how ratings can affect a business but rest assured, my 3 stars is far more than you deserve. To the lady who answered claiming to be security and who hung up in my face...do better!!! Ps...I am the one on your camera that was wearing the huge neckbrace and you SUCK!! 12/19/25 UPDATE Mike, per your request I did call you yesterday. The person answering the phone said you were with a customer so I decided to hold for a few minutes. I was sitting at the front door of your parking lot when I made this phone call and when I couldn't reach you by phone I thought maybe I could catch you on the sales floor and we could talk. I walked around your store for close to 15 minutes(and there are NO CUSTOMERS in the store). The lady who was extremely rude to me the day of my initial review asked if I needed help and I asked for you. She told me you were in the back doing something with the computers. So, it appears to me that your employees are liars and you really should appoint a spokesperson. You asked me to call you and I did. I did one even better and came to shop with you again because I figured we would be able to reconcile something and it was just one bad experience but NOPE this was 2 bad experiences. I can deal with someone having an off day but it's the patterns I can't rock with. Do BETTER!!

I always have a wonderful experience every time I visit this Ace Hardware. The folks there are always friendly and eager to help. I got some plants for my dog's grave today, and I also stocked up on batteries for Hurricane Season. Katie helped me today both times I went in, and she was just wonderful! She is so nice and friendly and it seems like she truly loves and enjoys her job. If this world were full of people like Katie we'd all have it made. Maybe that's what makes Ace so special, because they have plenty of people like Katie working there. Thank You for you hard work, and I really enjoy going to your store. Have a wonderful day!
