I recently had the pleasure of working with Jacob from Waldrop Heating and Air, and I couldn’t be more impressed with his service. From the moment he arrived, Jacob was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about heating and cooling systems.
He took the time to thoroughly assess our situation and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. I appreciated his attention to detail and the care he took in addressing our concerns. It was clear that he genuinely wanted to ensure our comfort.
His dedication to customer satisfaction truly sets him apart.

I feel compelled to update my original review after learning something that truly shocked and angered me. A neighbor around the corner, whose home is nearly identical to mine, recently had Piedmont Gas install the same gas line setup I requested — with a quick disconnect (which Waldrop told me I’d need to do myself afterward). His final cost? $300. Yes, you read that right — $300, compared to the $1,700+ I paid Waldrop for a similar setup.
When I heard that, I was stunned. I felt taken advantage of. I had hoped that by writing a detailed letter to Waldrop’s CEO about my experience, someone would respond — but I never heard back.

Original Review (from December 3, 2024)
We hired Waldrop to install a gas line for a portable generator. What followed was over four weeks of delays, poor communication, and subpar service.
• Initial quote: On October 4th, a technician quoted us just under $1,800. I asked about cost reduction options (we’re on a fixed income), but none were offered. My wife and I agreed to move forward for the sake of safety and professionalism.
• Missed deadlines: Work began October 11th. We were told the inspector would come the following week. No one showed, and it took repeated calls to even get a response.
• Communication issues: Calling the office was frustrating — constant recordings, AI, or long hold times. When we did get someone, they often lacked answers or never followed up. I finally spoke to James Kirby, who admitted the inspector hadn’t even been contacted and was surprised by the poor quality shown in their own technician’s photos.
• Rework and mess: The crew returned October 24th to reinstall the line “properly.” They left a mess, chipped our sidewalk, and got paint on our siding. Even the state inspector commented that a regulator was missing, though he passed it due to the low pressure of our setup. Waldrop did install the regulator after the inspection and final adjustments.
• I have many more details, though this should explain the basic reasons I am posting such a negative review.
We wrote to Jamie Porterfield (Waldrop) on November 7th. As of December 3rd — still no response.
This experience left us sadly disappointed. Others may have had better outcomes, but our experience was unprofessional, overpriced, and extremely frustrating.
I couldn't be more satisfied. A great staff to setup the repair service and a tremendous job with the follow-up to the end. I can't say enough about my Tech, Ryan, absolutely awesome person. Gentleman, polite, courteous and a wealth of knowledge answering all of my questions. Went the extra mile with no hesitation. Also offered things to do if it happens again. Ryan is definately a hugh asset to the Waldrop Company! First time use, highly recommend to anyone.
Had Melton & Blake, Come to my home for a broken water pipe this morning. Told them on the phone when I called about the problem the day before I could get home until around 9am. They got there at like 8:15am or so. He called me and I told them I wasn't home yet. They were like will go get some breakfast and come back just let us know when your on the way home. So I did they were very friendly and very understanding about the situation. When they got back Melton come inside looked at it all and talk me thru the whole thing. He was very informative about what was going on. Then we talked and he said let me go get my partner Blake and then Blake came in and walked me thru the rest of the process. Two very polite gentlemen very friendly. Those two guys made me feel like family thru the whole thing. We Laughed and cutting up but very professional guys. Two people they you could trust and help you make the right choice to fix the problem. Hands down I would choose this company over again to fix my plumbing work or hvac. If I have a problem again I'll definitely ask for those two gentlemen.
Had the installation crew come on monday after the two estimator came friday. The installation crew was David and Gavin the first day and boy they didnt know what there were getting into. They thought they were just going to redo a line for my sink and after getting into it they ended up doing a whole house replumb. They were here all week up until Thursday. They were great sports about it all. Very professional, friendly, and didnt mine me watching and being in the way as they completely destroyed my basement floor to get to all the pipe under the house. It was worth it all once they were finished. After they were finished it looked like no one had even been here. This company is very dependable and reasonable with pricing and more. I would definitely have David, Gavin, there third gentlemen back out to do any of my plumbing work.They are definitely top notch. And this company is top notch as well. They guided me thru the whole thing. Will definitely use Waldrop again. Thanks to all involved.
Chad was amazing. He came on a short notice, assessed the situation, moved accordingly, worked with precision, and cleaned up after the job. He helped my family and I get back into our kitchen RIGHT in the Knick if time before Thanksgiving. THANKS Waldrop Plumbing, and THANKS Chad (our tech) and THANKS Madison for “making us smile” with great service! Have a blessed holiday.
