After postponing our routine furnace maintenance twice, putting us into January- 2 days prior to a major winter storm, we went from a working furnace to a non-working furnace in an hour's time. A replacement part was going to cost $763 and needed to be ordered. The installation of the part would be determined after it was acquired. estimated time frame 2 or 3 days. Oh by the way, our warranty ran out in June. We purchase both our furnace and air conditioner from Turnbull and have faithfully scheduled routine maintenance every year. We were told our choices were to replace the part or get a new furnace. We were charged $160 for the service fee and we paid it. For fear of pipes freezing in sub zero temperatures, I was able to find a local repairman who had our furnace back in working order with the replacement part within 2 hours from the time the Turnbull technician left. It was almost $200 cheaper. This feels very much like we were scammed.
I can’t recommend this place enough. They replaced the furnace and water heater in my 1817 house in one day. They gave me a killer price and a killer warranty. I have to give a shout out to their employee Jason Majors, he made the entire process quick and painless! He’s a great asset to that company and I’m very happy with the entire process.
Update (Sept 2025): The “owner” of Turnbull has now edited his reply to my review to claim Turnbull did not install my unit. The facts:
The furnace was installed in 2021 by Winters Heating & Cooling. The installer was Brendan (listed on my install paperwork).
Winters merged with Turnbull in August 2023. Despite this, Jake (Turnbull’s owner) now claims that merger didn’t happen.
In January 2025, when my 4-year-old unit failed during single-digit temps, the technician who came out—and charged me $400+—was the same Brendan who originally installed the system at Winters, now working under Turnbull. His name appears on my installation record and the subsequent Turnbull service invoice. (See photos)
So the truth is evident: rather than stand behind workmanship and take care of customers, Turnbull’s leadership at the highest level, would rather deflect blame by saying “we didn’t install it,” while relying on the same personnel and servicing the same system post-merger.
This is a continuation of everything I’ve reported: repeated failures (including wiring short-circuits that led to fires), leaks, and charges for “diagnostics” and labor without lasting fixes—followed by public promises to “make it right” that go nowhere.
I have invoices, photos, and service records to support all of the above. Avoid Turnbull Heating & Cooling.
Update: In addition to the fire hazards and repeated failures, the unit has also developed a persistent leak. Despite claiming in his responses here that he would make things right, Jake is no longer willing or able to contact me directly to resolve the situation. Instead, I’m left dealing with yet another round of service fees for problems that were never properly fixed in the first place.
The leaking part in question can be purchased online for $60–$100, yet Turnbull wants to charge me $169 just to come out and tell me what I already know—that the same issue is recurring because nothing substantive was ever done to repair it. Now that the unit is “out of warranty,” I fully expect they will find more problems and hand me another list of expensive repairs.
Turnbull’s refusal to stand behind their work, their avoidance of accountability, and their unwillingness to escalate customer concerns to management make it clear: this company puts customers last. Avoid Turnbull Heating and Cooling at all costs.
Original Review - I am beyond disappointed with Turnbull Heating and Cooling and strongly advise against using their services unless you enjoy paying for poor-quality workmanship and constant repairs.
I had my furnace installed by Turnbull in 2021, and it has been nothing but a headache ever since. I’ve had multiple service calls due to the unit not working, including two terrifying instances in less than a month when the wiring short-circuited and literally caught fire both times (photo attached). Now, in the middle of winter, I’m dealing with yet another issue—this time, the heat strip needed replacement.
I decided to call Turnbull because they installed the unit and I assumed they would take care of yet again another issue. While the part was covered under warranty, Turnbull refuses to cover the cost of labor, leaving me with a $419 bill ($169 for diagnostics and $250 for labor). I’ve never heard of a warranty that only covers parts, forcing customers to pay out of pocket for issues caused by poor workmanship.
When I reached out to Amana, the furnace manufacturer, they explained that their warranty doesn’t cover labor because they can’t verify if the unit was installed properly to begin with. This points directly to Turnbull’s shoddy installation and lack of accountability.
Save yourself the stress, unsafe equipment, and constant expenses. Avoid Turnbull Heating and Cooling at all costs. Their poor-quality work and refusal to stand by their installations are unacceptable.
UPDATE ADDED: My son had a furnace installed by them in 2021 and it has been nothing but problems ever since. The system has broken down multiple times, leaked, and—most alarming—had wiring that short-circuited and CAUGHT FIRE TWICE!
When service was requested, Turnbull refused to take real responsibility. Parts might be covered under warranty, but customers are still left paying hundreds in labor fees for issues that were clearly tied to poor installation. Even when management promised in public responses that they would “make things right,” they have not followed through.
The pattern here is simple: bad installation, constant repairs, and no accountability. Save yourself the stress, safety risk, and unnecessary costs—I would not trust Turnbull Heating and Cooling with something as important as heating your home.
While the original install was not by Turnbull, the company that did install it merged with Turnbull and the same installer is currently employed by Turnbull. My son was promised better treatment than this. See info received about merger and judge for yourself.
