I started my piano search two weeks ago, and Rockaway Music was my first stop. At the time, I was still learning about different options and wasn’t planning to make a purchase on my first day. I had questions all over the place—from baby grands to uprights, new vs. preowned—and Brent was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, answering all my questions without any pressure to buy. During my piano shopping journey, I also heard from other dealers that Andy (the owner) is well-respected in the industry. Their great selection of pianos and overall professionalism made me feel that Rockaway Music is a reputable store run by people with integrity. Although I ultimately purchased a pre-owned piano elsewhere because I found one with a unique combination of color, sound, and touch that suited me best, I still had a fantastic experience at Rockaway Music. Two weeks ago, we ordered a brand-new Yamaha U1 piano from Rockaway Music. We live in New York City and have been in contact with Andy from their store. We are very grateful to Andy for always answering all our questions promptly and keeping in touch with us throughout the process. They delivered the piano right on schedule. The delivery team was also incredibly friendly and professional, handling the piano with great care and ensuring our floors and doors were well-protected during the move. We sincerely thank them! Rockaway Music was recommended by my piano technician as a piano showroom with an excellent selection of quality pianos. My student was looking for a Yamaha U1, and within two weeks, his piano of choice was delivered to his apartment in Manhattan. There were three pianos of this model on the showroom floor, both new and previously owned. My student visited the showroom twice and spent ample time playing the instruments. Andy, the rep, helped facilitate the the selection process by responding promptly to questions in person, through email and on text. His detailed explanation of policies and cost were followed up in writing through email. He carefully covered every single detail, and everything proceeded exactly as described. Two aspects of the experience impressed me the most. The first is that Andy offered to bring other Yamaha U1 pianos to the showroom from the warehouse, if my student was not completely enamored with the pianos on the floor. He showed support and understanding that choosing a piano is a highly personal decision. Secondly, I believe he worked to finalize the best possible price for my student and provided reasonable moving cost, complimentary tuning and a warranty. Rockaway Music is a customer-centric piano showroom, and the company has earned my satisfaction.
