We went to the art cafe for the first time and our experience was very disappointing. We called ahead to let them know that we were a bigger group coming in. The studio was very empty aside from our group. We had kids ranging from 4-13 yo, most being around 8-10 yo. It was many of our first experiences there. We got less than one minute of instruction (wipe down the pieces, and start with your lighter colors). No explanation of the process, where to find anything, methods or tips, nothing. And she only came and checked on us once the entire time we were there. I'm not expecting a full class, but show us what's available for our use (different paints, brushes, turn trays, stamps, etc), and the basic guidelines for beginning a project. Or have the info available to read/look at on printables. She wasn't busy, there weren't other people to help and other things that needed doing. My kids made a lot of 'mistakes' that could have been easily avoided with just a 5 min of explanation. We were a big group and all together, it wouldn't have taken much to do. And their pieces will suffer bc of it (which were expensive). So I feel like I spent a lot of money to be ultimately very stressed and disappointed with the experience and outcome. I gave it 2 stars because I think it's a fun, cute idea with a lot of potential. However, it did not deliver today and I'm left feeling pretty disappointed with our whole experience.
