What a disaster. Nothing about working with OE was pleasant. We signed a contract for covered patio in Nov 2024. OE said they would be complete by April of 2025 and the project would take 3 weeks. They did not get on site until June 2025 and did not finish until December. Stamped concrete pour looks awful (they did provide a discount and admit the subcontractor had their B crew). Worst part was the terrible communication throughout the project. There are several items I will be correcting myself this spring as I want nothing to do this company anymore. However I’m still dealing with them as I just received a lien since OE did not pay their electrical subcontractor. I could go on and on about this miserable experience.
I am SO glad I chose OE Decks to replace our dilapidated 1990's wood deck. Right out the gate they were very responsive and Corey was great. He was super accommodating and was able to help us decide on design and materials. There was an abundance of choices AND a 3D modeling option to be able to see what our choices would look like prior to finalizing everything (something no other deck company I know of has).
We did experience a 3-4 week delay, but this was no fault of OE Decks. Weather and some minor supply shipping issues arose, which is to be expected. We were BLESSED to have Chris (later joined by Keith) doing the deck build. Chris was friendly, professional, & prompt. He had good communication and was very knowledgeable. He did an impeccable job - lots of attention to detail and even some extra TLC. We had some other industry people come over for other reasons while this was going on and they all gave very high praise of his work.
Ken came on as the new project manager and was very kind and responsive. He helped facilitate the final step of our project which involved pouring some concrete. I had also been in touch with Ryan, the owner, who was able to answer any questions I had as well. There was some period of time between a few communications, but I attribute this to a busy growing business - and rightfully so. OE Decks is one of the best out there and you can trust them to provide beautiful results at the right price.
Oh! They also offered to assemble a pergola I purchased for an additional fee, which I gladly opted for. Other companies that came out to bid on our deck would not even consider this. They would only agree to build their own for nearly 10x the cost.
Other companies I called to come bid on our project either ghosted us completely, answered initially then never returned our calls, or pushed different design plans based on what THEY wanted and not what we were asking for (we wanted a new deck and one company was pushing us to do a concrete pad). Another one that did come out didn't seem to want to be bothered with questions or had any design/color options to show us. It was very much "lets just see what the basics are first and I'll call you later with a cost, then maybe I'll answer some questions" (which never even happened by the way and this was a company referred to us by neighbors).
OE Decks is FAR AND ABOVE the rest. I highly recommend them. I hope to come back to this review later to post the pics of the beautiful deck they built for us.
The current personnel at OE Decks is top notch. The project manager Ken was responsive, professional, and extremely reliable with project expectations. Our building crew, Chris and Keith, were the epitome of the best team one could hire. The expertise, reliability, and precision to detail were exactly what we were looking for in builders for our new deck. Great job Ryan. You have a very happy family with a beautiful new deck.
Hi again, I recently got my deck and fence built with OE Decks and would like to update my review with this company after getting a private inspection of the job and after having a few weeks to reflect on the job that was done.
Fence was built in 3 days and despite the lack of a project manager, was done well and I had a positive experience with the owners and the contractor OE hired. The company had lost a project manager during that time (July 2025) through no fault of their own.
Deck... is complete, and was done rather quickly yet carefully in 3 weeks! Gate and access panel took another 3 weeks however, but Nate and Evan were very cool and got the job done.
I have to give props to their employee named Blake. By far, he had the attitude, courtesy, and communication that really makes a company. He came out of his way to help me out with an issue I had. Along with Nate and Evan, these 3 people helped cement that 5 star rating you see here!
This whole experience was a learning process for me along the way, and I really did learn a lot. The learning started when shopping around, and to this day I am still learning. When shopping for a deck, fence, whatever... don't just look at the PRICE. Pay attention to the details... get a time frame preferably in writing. Ask who is working on YOUR particular project (this was something I failed to ask, and therefore when the project started, I hardly had any trust in the capabilities of the workers because although I had pulled the resume for OE Decks, I had no idea about the capabilities of the workers who were outsourced. For example, lets say you hire a company because they have 10 years experience with composite decking. Who exactly has the experience?) And above all, if you got doubts, talk to your project manager, or better yet, arrange your own private inspection before the final walkthrough. (Make sure they're ASHI certified.) Make sure every detail has been discussed, for example, post caps style.
I can say that Ryan Rust, the owner of OE Decks, is honest. That is not an easy find. Any surprises I had were simply because I assumed things instead of asking, but then again, this was my first home project ever.
Overall, I am happy enough to give a 5/5 rating. I can't say much about the internals of the deck beyond what I have seen and what has been inspected. For example, I have no idea if the flashing will hold up 15-30 years from now, and my inspection guy was unable to assess that on a built deck. But this (longevity) would be my concern with ANY deck even if it was pressure-treated lumbar and capped composite boards. That's the pessimist in me.
Ryan, believe me when I tell you that despite you being skilled, honest, and all-around a good guy, communication helps and quells all insecurities. Don't stretch yourself thin as your company expands. I really do like my deck, enough to give you that 5/5 that you know I didn't make it easy to get. Thanks for reading.
