Midstate Camera Repair

I’m an American living in Italy but I bought a Sony 7iii in Rhode Island a couple of years ago when visiting family. Unfortunately last year, when I was back for Christmas, the sound on my camera died. Apparently it’s a common 7iii problem but I was out of warranty. So I brought it to Midstate camera repair. Mark said he was so busy it was going to take him a few weeks to look at it. No problem (I have 2 7iii’s). So I left it with him and he finally got the job done (supposedly a whole new board) in January for $450. I was back in Italy by then so my sister in law picked it up and brought it to me when she came to visit a few months later in September. I fired it up but the camera still had no sound. I contacted Mark, told him the camera still wasn’t working correctly. He said that I was way out of his warranty but to bring it in when I was back in Rhode Island and he would take a look at it. I just drove to his shop and he told me to go pound sand. He didn’t even know if he wanted to look at it, and if he did I was going to have to pay for his time. Then he added. « What am I supposed to do? I’m a small business. » So there you have it. This guy has zero integrity and doesn’t stand behind his work. An unashamed, straight up shyster. Find a Sony approved shop that will stand behind its work. Don’t trust this guy with your camera.
