We were disappointed that when the technicians showed up to inspect the system (because our electric bill had gone up considerably), we expected that they would climb onto the roof to inspect the hot water heater. In the past some years back, when we had a much higher electric bill and we called for a system check, when the technicians arrived, they climbed onto the roof, inspected the hot water heater and told us that we needed a new hot water heater. We expected a similar inspection but they did not climb on the roof this time and they told us that there would be no charge for the visit. They did suggest that our refrigerator in our garage might be the issue. They then said there would be no charge and left. The whole visit, they were here for less than 15 minutes. A few days later we receive a bill in the mail for $200 with no hot water tank inspection. We asked to speak to the owner after complaining to the manager, and were told that the owner was on vacation. Until he returns and we speak to him, we will not submit payment for the visit that we were told that we would not be charged for that if we didn't pay the visit, the company would go out of business.

Our condo came with an existing solar hot water system. However, we postponed the anode service required to maintain the system, and then, while we were out of town, our water pressure reducer valve failed: consequently, one of our solar panels failed and was leaking down our roof. Given the age of our existing system, Hawaiian Solar bid an entire new system and, with minimal wait time, installed in one day two Solarhart panels and a Rheem tank. Installation was cleanly and professionally done, and the installing employees talked us through the various settings on our new hot water tank. Hawaiian Solar handled our rebate from HELCO and provided all necessary paperwork for both federal and state tax credits. When tax time came around , Beth in the office answered multiple questions for me by phone as I filed both tax returns. She also was most helpful when we sold our condo several months later. Our experience with Hawaiian Solar was excellent and we recommend then.
