I researched the dishwasher we wanted. Though I found it cheaper elsewhere, I went with Daugherty Appliance Sales for one reason: I try to support local businesses. That turned out to be a mistake with this particular business. Every time I have dealt with them they come across as indifferent, unappreciative, and arrogant. Even as a new customer they came across poorly, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. They seem nice in their commercials, after all. However, I have yet to have a pleasant encounter with any of their staff. Despite being a local business, they act like they don’t care about local customers, and it starts with their arrogant management. The grand finale is we started getting an error code 13 months after purchase. I went through Maytag’s online checklist I found and narrowed it down to a drainage pump issue. Person I spoke to at Daughherty agreed/confirmed after I shared all that history and set up an appointment for what I was led to believe was one of their people coming to fix it. The Daughherty guy showed up, sat in his truck for awhile for some reason, ultimately came to the door and was clueless as to reason for being there, he made me share the history again, he agreed AGAIN about the drainage pump being the issue (don’t their staff talk to each other?), said he would have to order it, and then left. He was only in my house ~5 minutes, recollected information he should have already known from my prior call and the agreed upon problem from that call, and then they charged me $97.65. Neurosurgeons don’t make $97.65 for 5 minutes, and this visit was a complete waste of time of time from an unprepared, awful business. I spoke to their manager afterwards and he was unapologetic, rude, and arrogant. I spoke to a different appliance repair guy who had great reviews and was nice, and he said my bad experience with Daughherty’s was common. In fact, when you look at their reviews, it’s amazing how many people have the same experience. Their folksy, nice commercials are so misleading; this place is awful and when you deal with them, their friendly masks come off. Between my experience and so many other reviews I have read, the whole business model feels misleading and dirty. They make insane money to be briefly present and completely worthless, and when you read all their reviews about this, one wonders if their expensive, brief, misleading uselessness is by design. Where they are complete fools is that word of mouth gets around; we have other upcoming appliance purchases, none of which will be with them. I will continue to support local businesses as much as possible, but Daughherty Appliance does not deserve anyone’s business, and I have no idea how they are still in business acting like they do. If you want a business that appreciates and cares for their customers, GO ELSEWHERE!
