They don’t even deserve 1 star! Horrible customer service. Last year 2024-2025 my Hearthstone gas stove was down for 2 winter months waiting for a service call after the tech left a test port open during the annual safety inspection and causing a gas leak. This year when I turned the stove on in early December it would not fire up. When I called for service, the service manager lectured me that I should have checked to see if the stove was operating earlier in the year. He talked down to me and it was INSULTING! Again I had to wait 2 months for an appointment. Since the stove is the sole source of heat in that part of the house we ran portable electric heaters in our attempt to keep pipes from freezing. The annoyance of checking the water pipes on cold nights was only exceeded by the cost of the increase of my electric bill. To date the the past 2 winters have cost me an additional $209 in portable heaters, and at least $350 in electric bills.
This company will put your home, and your family's life at risk, if you don't know how to check their work. If you buy a stove from here, don't have them install it. I bought a Hearthstone from them. At installation they brought an increaser that didn't fit, so they just stuck the stove pipe into a flue 2 inches larger and called it great. If you understand chimneys, you know how unsafe that is. Carbon Monoxide poisoning, chimney fires, among other issues. If you rely on Chimney Sweep to do work as professionals, they will be negligent and dangerous. When I called them to discuss the issue, the gentleman on the phone told me to "under no circumstances start a fire in the home". When the installers left they said it was good to go. That tells you everything you need to know. I feel bad for folks who don't know anything about chimneys, older folks, people who trust this company to install stoves safely. Thankfully, I know enough about them to know it wasn't right. If you've had your woodstove installed by Chimney Sweep, I'd recommend you call professionals like Brickliners to come ensure your woodstove wont burn your house down.
They are good at selling stoves but they don't have the staff to service them. After being told there was a 3 month lead time for service, I found Fireside Gas & Chimney Service, who are fabulous! When I called to cancel my appointment with Chimney Sweep, and mentioned they might want to prioritize the stoves that they sell, I was berated for not calling during the summer. I was left feeling that I would never patronize them ever again.
Take your money elsewhere. The sales dept is great I have bought 2 stoves from them in the past 10 years with no issues. The service/parts dept has to have the worst customer service I have ever seen. Twice in the past 6 months I have tried to purchase parts from them. They will tell you to send a email, then never respond or take action on ordering the parts this was a warranty issue that took three phone calls to remedy. The second time I walked in to the counter and spent an hour talking with Robert to order 3 parts for a stove. Said everything was ordered and I would get a phone call in 5-6 days when the parts arrive. 2 weeks later I call looking for a status and nothing was ordered just scribbled down on a note pad. Go elsewhere save yourself the hassle!
