As a fellow lover of time based movements, I took a watch there for sizing and was instantly sucked in by the beautiful pieces around the shop. From quick conversation and over hearing him speak about a watch, I would recommend him 1000X over.
I had a watch that needed repairing for my wife’s birthday. Charlie had it done in no time, and did a fantastic job for a great price. I’ll be taking any future repairs or battery replacements here from now on. Highly recommend Charlie’s to anyone.
Online hours were evidently wrong, so I submitted edits to reflect the information I received after an unpleasant conversation with the owner. Closing time was listed at 7, I arrived at 5:30 and the gate was a down with a "Back at 6:00" sign posted. I could see someone (evidently the owner) working inside, but decided to kill some time and come back when the sign said the shop was re-opening. At 5:50, the person I saw the owner was moving around inside, so I stood next to the gate to wait for the shop to re-open. The owner pointedly ignored me and put a lock on the gate and disappeared. I called the store, expecting to get a voicemail message that might mention the shop's hours, and instead got the owner, who gave me some serious attitude when I asked for the shop's hours. I'm surprised someone working in a niche trade like watch repair can afford to close shop early and treat someone trying to bring him business like that. I like to support local when I can, but I'm not going to force someone to do business with me when they clearly don't want to.
Update to respond to the owner:
Nice try at deflection, but I know I was looking at the page for your shop and not the one you're trying to use to dodge criticism for your unacceptable customer service, because I used that Google page to call your shop. You know, the call when you tried to refuse to give me your hours, remember? I said "Hi, what are your hours?" To which you replied "I'M CLOSING." and I responded with "Okay, so what are your hours?" and you finally answered my question. You could have just answered the first time, but you decided to be a jerk about it.
That conversation happened after you saw me standing in front of your shop, looking at you as you put the lock on the gate and skedaddled out the back. It also doesn't change the fact that your gate was down around 5:30, which is an hour and a half before the 7 p.m. closing time you had on your Google page (the one I used to call you) and a half hour before the time you told me you usually close. You even put a sign on your door saying the shop would re-open at 6.
The only reason your hours match what you told me now is because I submitted corrections to your page to fix the. Shall I submit an invoice to you for my labor, since you can't be bothered to make sure it is accurate? Also, you spelled my name wrong, even though it's written out for you.
If you're looking for someone who is honest, professional, and has a good eye for details, it sounds like there's another shop in the Kitsap Mall that might be worth checking out, based on what the owner had to say in his unprofessional reply.
I had a very emotional experience with my beloved engagement ring — a small diamond had fallen out and was completely lost. This ring is incredibly special to me: it’s the one my husband proposed with four and a half years ago, and I’ve worn it every single day since. Needless to say, I was heartbroken and also very anxious about how much the repair would cost — especially here in the U.S., where jewelry repairs can be extremely expensive.
I found Charlie’s Watch & Jewelry Repair on Google and saw all the glowing reviews, so I decided to stop by just to ask for a quote. From the moment I met Charlie, I could tell I was in good hands. He’s not only a true professional, but also a person with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He took the time to listen to my story, inspected the ring carefully, and offered me a very fair and reasonable price — so reasonable, in fact, that I left the ring with him that very day.
Just a few days later, my ring was ready — and I was stunned. Not only did Charlie replace the missing diamond, but he also straightened the band (which had become slightly bent over time), and gave the whole ring a deep clean. It now looks brand new — like the day it was first placed on my finger.
I can’t thank Charlie enough. His kindness, craftsmanship, and honesty mean the world to me. I wish him all the success and many more grateful customers like me. Thank you, Charlie — from the bottom of my heart.
