Sam and Mike were very rude and refuses to work on my car. They clearly don't know what they are doing and are clearly trying to scam people without doing any sort of work. You can go to any other local mechanic shop in St Louis and not be treated poorly. 0/10 stars
10/10 would not recommend. I took one of my vehicles here for a simple transmission rebuild (2012 Silverado.) The owner and service advisor were nice, but they need to double check the type of work their technicians are letting out the door. While I was doing normal maintenance on the truck a few weeks later, I decided to take a peak around the transmission and it was very aggravating to see the job I was given.
1. My factory exhaust was cut to remove the transmission (which does not need to be cut, just faster for labor time) and tried to weld it back in place, which is now left with an exhaust leak. Picture attached.
2. The vent tubing was not reinstalled properly. Picture attached.
3. The transmission was over 1 quart low on fluid, dipstick tube was never reinstalled correctly, along with bell housing bolts loose.
4. A few months later I was stranded at work from my starter not engaging the flywheel. To find out there was a bolt missing and the other one was loose. (Starter is removed to remove the transmission) thankfully I was able to tighten the bolt that was there and get to the auto parts store.
5. Around 40k miles later the truck would not move in drive or reverse. I called and was told it only had a 3yr/36k warranty and basically just “sorry.”
I wasn’t going to post this review and just take this one as a loss but I’d hope someone reads this before taking their vehicle here. I imagine they just install transmissions from a reman supplier. This does not fix the known issues for these types of transmissions and leaves you stranded as I was. I thankfully found a reputable/knowledgeable transmission builder that got my truck back on the road in no time with a quality rebuild and great results.
I’ve wasted weeks with my car just sitting at this business. The men Sam & Mike just continue to lie and give me the run around. Def don’t recommend women trying to do business here! I took my business elsewhere where they wanted to actually work on my vehicle. Certified Transmission actually tried to charge me $9000 more than what I ended up paying. Took my business to Al’s in Edwardsville. Night & Day how much more educated and business minded Al’s is. I’m thankful I found a business that wanted to actually do the work and not make almost $10,000 profit!! Oh and the day Al’s received my car the got started working on it! Unlike certified Transmission who let it sit almost 3 weeks without a plan.
So I want to start this review by saying I am not in the habit of bad mouthing or bashing any business or company. I do believe that right is right and wrong is wrong. I had my Ford F150 towed to Certified Transmission because I had a leak coming from under it and the truck would not shift into gear. Mike called me a day or two later and told me that I needed a new transmission. In my mind no big deal I have an extended warranty let’s get it fixed. However my extended warranty denied the claim. This is where Mike and those guys were awesome, he exhausted every option to help me. And gave me numerous options to help me pay for the transmission repair. He even took care to make sure there were no storage fees after repair was done. I was actually in between jobs and had just started a new job but needed my vehicle to do the job. After a week or two of trying to figure things out I was able to come up with the $6000.00 it cost to get my vehicle out. Again for that I thank them and am grateful. Here’s where the disconnect lies though after getting my vehicle back a day later I noticed a leak under my vehicle in the driveway. So I called spoke to Sam and he told me to bring it back up at which time he showed me something about the transmission cooler lines and said it would be about $400.00 and that’s on the generous end. I was frustrated to say the least because in my original statement I told them there was a leak, I mean it’s on the invoice. Mind you, I literally had to give up almost my entire first paycheck to get the $6,000.00. I couldn’t afford another $400.00 and all I asked was hey why do I have to pay for something I told you was an issue in the beginning. I wasn’t looking for a handout even asked could something be worked out can it be fixed and I pay the $400.00 within that next week even though I felt like I shouldn’t be charged for something I brought to your attention originally. I was told there was nothing they could do. Again not bashing but I definitely don’t understand how this is an issue that could not be worked out.
This place is absolutely insensitive and unprofessional! Got my car towed after speaking with them about what was wrong, just to have them call me and tell me I have to get it towed elsewhere. We agreed that I would have it towed when I could. The day I was getting it moved the police called me to let me know that some one attempted to steal my car off their lot. My window was busted and steering wheel column was broken down. It happened the day before, but the shop never called and told me anything!!! When I did call they were very insensitive and didn’t offer me anything. Not even a “sorry this happened”. The first thing they said to me was they weren’t responsible and there was nothing they can do. When I picked my car up they were very rude and was trying to rush me out while I was trying to ask questions. They say they have no surveillance where it happened but there were at least 4 cameras were my car was parked. The insensitivity of the staff was very disheartening.
