Best buy waterproofing water proofed our entire basement. Rich Eagan came to the house fully explained the products they use and why they use certain products over others. He stayed in contact with me and scheduled the job that worked around my schedule. The day work began Erickson and his crew showed up on time and got right to work. Cleanup was thorough and the work overall was exceptional! I was extremely impressed by the job, communication and customer service overall.
My experience with Best Buy waterproofing was excellent. We met Rob who made us feel safe about our investment in our basement. He gave us an excellent price and was very honest about everything. The crew that worked on my basement were very nice and attentive. Darwin, Hammie, Chilo Paulo were all super kind and friendly. They left everything super clean and in order.
Wow! Rob came to my new home and did an inspection shortly before I purchased it. He made me feel confident to move forward on making an offer. I am a real estate agent with Keller Williams and I was extremely impressed with Rob’s professionalism and knowledge of the process. I work with many professionals in my business and sometimes it’s hard to find people you feel like you can really trust. I would highly recommend Rob and Best Buy Waterproofing to my clients in the future.
I'd highly recommend Best Buy Waterproofing. Rob did an excellent job showing us what would be involved in replacing our ancient non-functional French drain. He also reviewed what to expect afterwards and how & when we could treat the walls afterwards. He was very accommodating on schedule to give us time after the holidays to move and rearrange the basement to give them room around the walls to work.
We had a large crew show up promptly on the scheduled day. Eric took the lead, but all were extremely hard workers. Eric, Hamilton, Darwin, Jorge, Wilbur, Cecelio, and Antonio are to be commended for their hard work, professionalism and attention to detail. From the start they put up a plastic barrier around the basement to contain dust and extended it up the stairs and across the family room to the rear door they were using. They also sealed off the stairs up to the rest of the house and tarped the floor. They ensured that I was OK with the new sump pump location and where the outside discharge lines would be installed. The entire crew worked like a well oiled machine, everyone knowing what needed to be done and getting tasks done quickly and efficiently. It only took about 8 hours to bust up 100+ ft of concrete, install the new drain system, waffle board, sump pumps and re-cement the floor. Impressive work. In the end they asked if I was satisfied with how it turned out and left the basement cleaner then they found it.
They came out a couple of days later to address a minor issue with the waffle board. Its great to work with a company that stands behind their work and wants to ensure complete satisfaction.
Thanks again to the great crew!
Update: the company called me immediately to address the issues I had expressed in my review, which they did in a forthright manner, which I was impressed with, as I can appreciate a company which holds itself to high standards.
I had Best Buy complete two drainage systems around the inside walls of my house in my basement and in my lower level before I moved into the home. I was only present at the very beginning of the work day and returned the next day.
The Good
They were the most competitively priced company among the many quotes I received and had been in the business for a long time. They have a great warranty. They were very communicative and willing to answer my questions before, during, and after the job. They were fast - completing the inside work in one day. They were brutally honest about the mess the home would be in after all work was completed - after ripping out floors and tile and walls and drywall, there were electrical wires hanging everywhere and just a general mess - as they said it would be. I just didn't expect it to be that messy and wish I would have contacted a basement remodeling company to be prepared to address it, so I didn't have to move back into the house with little kids and live wires hanging everywhere.
It took me weeks to find a company that could put drywall back-up, put flooring over the drain areas, and reinstall all the electric wiring.
The Bad
First, I was very concerned about all the dust from the jackhammering and demo getting into my HVAC system, so I was very careful about covering up the two return vents that were located around the work areas. However, I wrongly assumed the company would do three things further: turn off the HVAC while working, cover the return on the HVAC system itself (which was in the work area), and cover/protect my brand new hot water heater and HVAC unit, as they were digging a trench around that and were fully exposed to the brunt of the work. Shame on me for thinking that. I was furious when I returned the next day and opened the HVAC unit to realize what had happened, and had to pull out the furnace filter in pieces and chunks of concrete from around the furnace blower unit, along with dust/debris from the entire area.
Second, I wrongfully trusted the foreman to choose the two areas where the sump pits would be placed along the basement walls and where they would exfil outside the house. I should have known he didn't know best when he first said it would be placed along the back/uphill side of the house and spill out onto my concrete patio; I politely pointed out that I thought it wasn't a good idea to exfil water uphill of the house and that likely doing it downhill would be best. As it turns out, one of the sump pits was placed in the middle of the wall (far from ideal for placing furniture after the fact) - likely chosen out of laziness b/c it was close to an outlet, exfiling into my front yard which is now wet all the time. I would have gladly provided an extension cord!
There were other minor things, like leaving dried concrete on my tile floors, which I can scrape by hand and concrete on my outside door, which is plastic, so can be cleaned. And the fact my credit card was charged for the remainder of the price the evening the workers left, even though the outside work hadn't been completed yet and wasn't done until several days later.
In sum, I would recommend Best Buy for a basement waterproofing project, but every customer should personally question how the company will protect your utilities (i.e., make sure they will shut off your HVAC, cover all return vents in the work area, and cover/protect all things in the work areas like hot water heaters, floors, HVAC, doors, etc) - and don't let them start working until you see that done, b/c once they start jackhammering, it's too late. And don't trust their first judgment on where the sump pit(s) should be located; question that and research it in advance so you know what is best for you and your house, b/c at their speed of work, that will not be considered.
