I remember when Town & Country use to have high quality stuff and much of it is still good such as it's tools and fittings. But many of the items are now cheap and flimsy such as the Do-It-Best Ballcock toilet tank fill valve, toilet seats and plastic runners which I refused to buy. The valve that I had in my toilet, the supposedly brass float rod didn't even last a year because it corroded causing it to brake at the valve and the ball end was badly bent. So when I was in the other day asking this doddering old man that works there about the brass float rod, he started rattling off that everything is plastic and I told him it isn't that the float rod is supposed to be brass that I had to point to in the package. I asked if this rod was solid brass and he swore up one side and down that it was. He didn't know much of anything else either. It's bad when the customer knows more than the associate. But before going to the store to get another fill valve I checked online to check if a float rod is genuine brass and checked the float rod that was being used in the toilet just to find out it was aluminum with a brass coating. And we know how quickly aluminum corrodes since the valve in the toilet didn't even last a year. When I got the new fill valve home I also gave the float rod a file test and found that it was aluminum also. So I had to buy 2 new float rods on line that really are brass and holds up well in water. I even gave them the file test and they were indeed brass where those cheap imitations where aluminum with a brass coating. I don't particular like those Ballcock fill valves because they didn't even last as long as the ones that didn't have a ball and float rod. So I will be buying Fluid masters for now on but not from T&C. I will go on line. There is one Fluid master model that has a 7 year warranty I will be checking into. I really liked Town & Country when it had better products and provide services to install things such as doors and windows when it first came to Crawfordsville. None of that anymore. I'm surprised Town & Country is still in business since it has cut hours and look like staff as well.
