Harrison arrived at the designated time to diagnose our lack of hot water. I was wary that he might try to talk me into replacing our six-year-old water heater, but he found a leak in the expansion tank and a gas valve which was not code compliant. When he finished the replacement, he heard a new noise. Further investigation revealed a hidden major leak from the main tank with a need for a total replacement. This meant undoing the jobs he had just finished and putting in a new unit. Harrison discussed all the options with me and let me choose what to do. This meant undoing the jobs he had just finished and putting in a new unit. Harrison discussed all the options with me and let me choose what to do. The whole thing was accomplished in a little more than four hours. The charges were adjusted to reflect the jobs he needed to do twice. He rotated the tank to face the second opening in the utility closet in the garage and he cleaned up completely. Harrison was competent and professional. He did the job speedily with minimum fuss. I had called Steve's thinking it was the firm my wife had called in the past. It was not, but they will be at the top of my list now. Harrison is an asset to his company and should be commended for his rapid response, excellent work, and complete service. Thank you.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. Steer clear of these guys. They will charge you $80 just to give you an overpriced job quote. I had Steve's Plumbing (The Jogging Plumber) come bid a job for me to replace a water heater that went out. Before they came, I removed the old unit and new supply lines were installed by the plumber who helped me remove the leaking tank. The new unit is ready to set, with all wiring, water lines ready to go, and an easily accessible work space to access. They quoted me $4,783 for a tank replacement. The 80gal water tank, pan, expansion tank, and hardware add up to around $1500 on the high side, leaving $3200 left for labor. Severa... AVOID AVOID AVOID. Steer clear of these guys. Several plumbers since told me it'd be a 2-3 hour job -- so Steve's is essentially charging $1094.33/hr. when the average going rate for a licensed plumber is $150/hr. I can't speak to their actual work but from other reviews here, I'm guessing it's far from top notch. Some of the other plumbers I had quote me for the same job were $2,500 less. One said they'd done several reworks behind Steve's jobs as well. Jog in the other direction and call Natural State, Kramer, or Anderson's.
I wanted them to come repair a sink that I had called a previous company before to fix and didn’t think it would be a big deal. They charged me $70 just to tell me what I already knew and they don’t discuss pricing over the phone. I then find out that they are going to charge me hourly what the other guys charged me a one time price of! DO NOT USE!! That was the easiest $70 anybody ever made. Looked at my house for 3 minutes to tell me what I knew and gave me a price that I was not willing to pay because it was stout!!!
