Absolutely amazing local company. Ed is very knowledgeable, and both he and Charles worked together to get the entire job of putting in a chimney insert from Lopi done fast. They cleaned up the entire area afterward and were very good at explaining how the unit works and operates. They were very professional timely. 5 stars only because we couldn't give 10.
Outstanding customer service and fantastic installation experience.
We love our new fireplace liner and the price was super reasonable too.
10/10 recommend Sootshaker Chimney Sweep if you need a new fireplace or service on your existing set up.
I called Sootshaker because my chimney was dripping onto my gas insert fire place.
They sent a technician out to look at it to diagnose the issue. He told me the flashing was messed up, even though Sootshaker had been there less than a year ago to do the flashing. I was quoted $300 something to redo the flashing + the service call charge, making the total $450. I let them come do the flashing, paid them hoping my chimney was fixed. The technician was at my house maybe 25 minutes to do the flashing.
The next rain came and the chimney dripping persisted, no change at all. I nicely reached out to the technician and told him that the flashing did not help my issue. He told me that he could add a new chimney cap, waterproof the chimney, and reseal the crown and it would fix the issue. I was quoted a further $900 for them to come out and do this. Again, I just wanted the issue fixed so I paid them to come out and do all of that work. The technician was there around 30 minutes. See attached photo for what the crown looked like. There were still visible cracks after the work was done. I paid them, waited for the next rain and to no surprise, the drip continued. Again, I kindly texted the technician and said that the chimney was still dripping. I was ghosted and never received a text back.
Finally, after paying $1300+ to this company to fix my issue, went up on the top of my roof to get a good look for myself. Like I said, there were some visible and obvious cracks in my chimney crown where water was getting in. The technician completely ignored these cracks when resealing the crown. I have since resealed the chimney myself with some $40 sealant and $15 flex seal caulk and fixed the issue. I should have done this in the first place but I was desperate to fix the issue and have it done right, so I called “professionals”.
In conclusion, I should have never called Sootshaker and saved myself $1300+ dollars. I have never written a bad review before but I want to save people from experiencing a similar issue in the future. The disrespect to take my money and not even have the decency to respond to my text is outrageous and completely unprofessional.
