Both Josh and John were great. Very patient and friendly with us as well as my excited dog. Very helpful and went above expectations. In addition, they were very professional and got the work done swiftly but without rushing to just hurry up and get the job done and over with. Highly recommend!!
I had a very disappointing and concerning experience with Shenandoah Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc.
On February 3, 2025, technician John Mitlacher came to my home to inspect loud thumping and vibration coming from my HVAC system. He was under the house for only about five minutes before telling me the fan was warped and a mounting bracket was broken. He warned that continued use could destroy the system and strongly suggested immediate repairs or even replacing the entire HVAC system.
That same day, I received an electronic invoice by email and text and paid a $97 service fee ($104 after taxes).
However, despite repeated requests, the company never provided the promised repair or replacement quote. Over more than a week, I contacted the office multiple times and was repeatedly told the quote would be sent “as soon as possible.” It never was.
Because of the urgency communicated, I sought a second opinion from the original HVAC installer. On February 11, 2025, the owner performed a thorough inspection lasting 25–30 minutes and confirmed there was no warped fan and no broken mounting bracket. The actual cause of the noise was simply three mice inside the blower fan. Once removed, the vibration stopped immediately.
It is extremely troubling that Shenandoah Air diagnosed major mechanical damage and pressured me toward costly repairs that were completely unnecessary.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company due to misdiagnosis, lack of follow-through, and dishonesty.
When our heat went out during the biggest snow storm and cold snap of the year, Shenandoah was available even when everyone else was still digging out. Their prices were by far better than the other companies we called (like by hundreds of dollars), and they pushed for our parts to be covered by our warranty, which made the cost even more affordable for us. It was a big fix that they knew exactly what we needed and what needed to be done. CJ was the best - he explained everything, he showed me where the problem was, he helped me understand the whole house system better, and we had the same technician throughout the diagnostic, ordering parts, and fixing everything. I’m not getting any benefits from leaving this review, I really mean it - we’re calling Shenandoah from now on for everything.
This company from first call to install has been great. My heat went out a week before this past weekend's snowstorm. At the time of scheduling, I was a week out before they were able to come and install (falling after the storm). Once the snow was confirmed I received a call to move my install up so I would not be without heat for it. I am very grateful for this company that will put customers wellbeing first as a lot of companies will tell you there is nothing they can do and keep the schedule as is. I will not hesitate using Shenandoah Air Conditioning and Heating for my future needs in the HVAC department. Thank you to office staff and the techs that came out to inspect and install the system. Everyone has been super nice and great to work with.
We gave CJ Vandyne and Matthew Rotruck a 5 for excellent for the exceptional service they provided. Matthew was there from day one when we first inquired about our HVAC issues. He was respectful of our input, professional, knowledgeable, returned calls promptly, and never gave false hope—only honest and realistic expectations.
Both CJ and Matthew were amazing technicians. We are also very grateful for the military discount, which truly helped, especially knowing how pricey HVAC services can be.
