Has asbestos pipe lagging removed in my basement. They did a fantastic job! The estimator gave me a very detailed account of their process of removal and how they go about doing it safely. Pipe lagging is one of the most dangerous forms of asbestos and they were quick/safe! It seems asbestos removal is difficult to find locally, I live in OH about 25m+ away from Ft. Wayne. I recommend!
Protechs was hired to address water damage in my office. Protechs set up drying equipment on July 3, closed the door, and left the equipment running until Monday, July 7. The employee who placed the equipment placed a hot fan directly towards my office plants, and it ran with the door shut for four full days. When I returned to work, my plants were near death. I had to cut nearly two years' worth of growth from my pothos and cut my lily nearly down to its roots due to all leaves and blooms being burnt beyond recovery. My office was so hot the papers I left in drawers were curling from the heat. Out of concern for a fire hazard, my coworkers and I turned off the equipment and removed it from my office. When a Protechs employee arrived to collect the equipment, she did not apologize for the damage done and instead tried to complain to us about the equipment being moved.
Was my office dry? Yes.
Were my plants terribly damaged and my files almost on fire? Also yes.
Edit: Protech had no direct contact with me. They were hired by my employer, and the drying devices were installed while I was out of the office. The papers that were curling from the heat were in a drawer about 12 inches from the drying device. The fan was pointed away from the drawer and directly at my plants. It's quite concerning that Protech staff did not take obvious, easy precautions to prevent a fire hazard. This could have been prevented if the staff asked an available employee to move the plant. The office would not have become hot enough to cause heat damage to my files had the staff also taken the simple measure of leaving the office door open. Instead, they shut a heating/drying kit in a 10x8 space with little ventilation and pointed a heater at a leafy pothos, which, when dry enough, would have become excellent tinder. I understand a company would generally not want to move items in offices and homes, but I would hope fire prevention takes precedence.
If I could give them less stars I would. Their services were extremely poor and unprofessional.
They admitted to providing sub-par service due to demand and said my carpet did not need removed, only to find the mold under the carpet because they couldn't do the job properly. Im so glad I didn't take a word of their advice and went with my gut to have the carpet removed.
They told me that they would check on the moisture levels daily and didn't for 6 days! 6 days! No wonder there was mold, because they didn't even remove the water!
They also billed me wrong. And only after asking multiple times were they able to provide a line item cost breakdown to which I saw mistakes and had to fight to have taken off.
Please do yourself a favor and scroll on to the next company for services even if it means not getting help in a flood or fire restoration. It will save you time, stress and money.
