Cashier great; manager thinks her ignorance is not her fault. Checking out, asked personal checks were accepted. Answer was yes. Wrote good check. Check declined. Manager said bank refused check. Very worried since thousands of dollars in account to cover check could not understand problem. Called bank, it did not refuse check, check was good, plenty of money in account. Learned Office Max - Depot store uses Tele-check, a third party vendor to convert check to electronic item, but will only accept checks from persons with account at Tele-check. Went back to store to explain and her only reply was βit was not her faultβ. But it was her fault. She incorrectly told me my bank refused the check causing me worry about bank fraud and embarrassing me with other customers in store. She did not know, but should have known that her company uses Tele-check and account with that firm was prerequisite to using a check. Had she informed me correctly, I would have simply used one of my credit cards. My husband tried in vain to explain to her what he had learned but all she could say was βit is not my faultβ. I am 76 years old, a resident in town for 50 plus years and never have written a bad check. The store manager owes me an apology and needs to learn to take responsibility for her mistakes and ignorance.
