I reached out to the store manager at the Brighton Park location and discussed this issue. He was more than willing to correct the discrepancy and I was shocked because I expected pushback. No pushback. Beware Ace Rewards and Customer Birthday coupons are a scam. Deceptive Pricing or Fictitious Pricing is the term for this behavior. I don't understand what the motivation is for an employee to treat customers this way? Why does every transaction need to be scrutinized extensively? Why do customers have to spend extra time at the checkout waiting for a manager to explain to a disgruntled customer that the cash register made a mistake or the computer system was not updated with the correct pricing. Most importantly why does it take 3 employees to ring up one item for a customer when the first employee realizes that there is something deceptive going on? It's all tied in to Surveillance Pricing or Dynamic Pricing and the magic begins when a customer signs up for a Company Rewards Program. A wheelbarrow had a display price of $59.99 and I wanted to use the $10 Ace Rewards coupon for $10 off, the employee charged me $69.99 then told me I got $10 off. That was a lie. I never received $10 off when he charged me $10 more than the displayed price. I won't be shopping at Holme's street, Brighton Park or Lexington in the future. When it takes 3 clerks to check you out watch out ! That's when they create confusion and talk under their breath that it was the cash register, it was the computer, Ace has "exclusions" on on certain items. I've learned the exclusions are any item that you try to use a coupon with. You will never get the coupon discount in the end. Beware, Beware, Beware.
