My first KK cabinets where 45 yrs ago. Yes they where not perfect but they worked. I started updating some of my apts 8 yrs ago and cabinets where ok but not perfect again. But today I received cabinets for four apts. OMG they have zero craftsmanship, they don’t care what comes out of the factory. I will never buy nothing from KK again. It’s just junk. If I could remove the one star I would. Not only are they junk, they miss lead the customer on there web site. Claiming they use plywood end panels, if you considered partial board with a paper film plywood. I will tell you it’s not plywood, they are lying. It’s shameful this company is this dishonest. I would ask for my hard earned money back but they would never do that.
I gave this one star because it was the lowest rating I could give. I just began installing my new Kitchen Kompact cabinets on Sunday 4/16/23, and got most of the uppers in. I have installed upwards of 50 kitchens over the years, and these are THE ABSOLUTE WORST quality cabinets I have ever installed. The last kitchen I installed was one from Menards in the cheapest white cabinet that they stock / sell. The Menards cabinets were at least twice as nice and 1/3 of the cost. DO NOT BUY THESE unless you love wasting your hard earned money on JUNK! I don't even know if I've ever seen hardware as low quality as was used in these cabinets either. If it exists, I had never seen it. Extremely cheap low quality hardware, 1/8" hardboard backs, 1/2" particle board shelving (This will sag very quickly under the weight of dishes), poor finish, split and broker face frames, box sides that look like they were cut on a band saw...full of splinters...the list goes on! BUYER BEWARE!
Update: Brett from Kitchen Kompact reached out to me to see if they could address any of my concerns, and sent me a free touchup pen...I appreciated that he reached out, and I called him. Since posting this review, I proceeded to open the remainder of my cabinets, the lowers, and had yet another broken face frame. It is being replaced ok...but the quality is so poor. They definitely have a niche in the cabinet world. They would be perfect for Section 8 housing. Honestly as a contractor and installer, I can't in good conscience recommend these to anyone I'm sure townhouse builders or someone building low income housing would love these because of their low quality, but if you're looking to upgrade a Kitchen these are NOT what you want. These are exponentially the worst cabinets I've ever installed, and I'm embarrassed as a carpenter that I put them in my house. If I could get my money back, I'd take them all out and start over!
After getting 5 handpicked new doors as replacements for 5 that were very poor quality, I threw 4 of them away as the handpicked ones were worse than the originals. Not a sureprise at all! The free touchup kit didnt work, it was dried up and worthless. Now 2 years in I have 2 doors that are warped so badly that they touch at the top, and a 1" plus gap at the bottom. Very Disappointed! Buyer Beware!
One of the brackets holding my most-used silverware drawer broke, and after some sleuthing, I found Kitchen Kompact was the manufacturer of my cupboards—likely installed 20 years ago, two years before I bought my house. I emailed the fine folks at Kitchen Kompact, and Brett mailed me six new brackets, enough to last me another 20 years!
I had also been living with a cupboard door that had been the victim of a fist in a previous lifetime, so I was ecstatic when Brett said he would send me a new cupboard door. Now, I don't have to be reminded of that event anymore.
If I ever redo my kitchen, I'll happily work with these folks to get the job done.
I wish I had never heard the name “Kitchen Kompact.” I ordered cabinets from them through Home Depot in April of this year. When they arrived in May, most of them had been damaged in transit, or had glaring quality issues. Additionally one of them was the wrong size altogether (I validated that Home Depot ordered the right size.) Well, here I am on August 8 and they still haven’t gotten me a replacement for the wrong size cabinet. (They did send me replacements for the ones that were damaged & defective.)
Edit: I spoke with Brett and he reached out to the sales rep that was coordinating the replacement cabinet. It arrived a few days later. Overall, I’m still really disappointed in my experience with Kitchen Kompact. The quality is consistently poor across all all 8 of the cabinets that I ordered. Mine have poorly fitting seams and joints, cracks in the wood, poor paint quality, and hinges that gouge the doors each time they open and close. Everyone that I spoke to there throughout this saga was friendly and apologetic, so no complaints with them. It’s evident though that their manufacturing and quality control processes desperately need an overhaul.
