Disappointed but not surprised, this is classic legacy local Maine business behavior. Went in with my husband to begin the process of updating our kitchen counters from laminate to quartz. Made a purposeful choice of going to a local business rather than a big box store, but as usual, was let down. At our initial visit we spoke with a kitchen remodel staff who seemed barely qualified at best, and, while he was nice enough, he was incapable of explaining the countertop replacement process to us in a clear way. Regardless we sent him our rough measurements to get a quote and start the process, and literally NEVER heard back. Not a peep. They just didn't care to serve us, I guess? This local business had the potential to make $8000 off of us to do the JOB THEY EXIST TO DO and they decided, nah, not gonna email these customers back. Ended up going to Home Depot where we were treated professionally, the process was clear, quick and affordable. Went from our initial consult to counters installed within 6 weeks. Beautiful result. This is the second time I've attempted to patronize Hammond (first time was to purchase lumber, was treated extremely rudely by all staff). Never again. It's time to grow up, pals. Or you won't be long for this world.

Having Hammond Lumber supply my building materials for 3 structures during the past few years has been an excersize in frustration. A new home and two garages were included in this build. On the positive side, the sales representatives are professional and responsive to issues and mistakes that occur. Unfortunately, these mistakes cost money when contractors can't work efficiently due to missing material. I wasted countless hours driving to get items that should have been delivered with my materials. Another major disappointment was my experience with Boise Cascade who designed and provided my roof trusses. They completely failed to follow the designs they were provided. It changed the entire look on the garage. I paid in excess of 9K for trusses that were not in compliance with my drawing. Shouldn't the homeowner get to approve the final designs before they get released to be built. Apparently not! When their error was brought to their attention, they offered a $150 dollar credit. What a joke. Never again with Boise Cascade. Hammond should be embarrassed to have them as a supplier of roof trusses. Another concern was the condition of the material at the time of delivery. It was haphazardly loaded and secured with safety staps. Boxes were opened, torn and loose material was simply thrown on top. Several products were damaged and unusable. A picture is worth a thousand words. Despite my desire to reject these deliveries, I can't afford to send crews home because Hammond personnel can't do their job. Regretably, pride in your work is not a standard Hammond Lumber attempts to achieve. In summary, do I believe that mistakes happen, ... sure. Will I consider using Hammond in the future, ..... surely not.
