We previously had a good interaction with Hadsell when we were on the hunt for a repair on a tire. Unfortunately I cant recommend them for more than tires. I will start with the good tire interaction first. After finding out our tire couldn't be repaired Hadsell got us the same tire we had on our 2021 Toyota Rav4 which we were not finding anywhere else, and they did a great job with it at a decent fair price. We were in and out quickly. We believed we could use them again for other needs and I suppose that is where we messed up. We took our 2021 Toyota Rav4 in to Hadsell for a simple oil change. They seemed more than fair on price as it was around $60 total. We asked them SEVERAL times if they had the correct oil as our vehicle requires SAE OW-16 and the guy said yes they are familiar with Toyota and have what they need. So we trusted them. Unfortunately, that was our mistake and as time went on our car was acting sluggish and not like usual. It wasn't giving any codes or warnings so I tried not to put too much into it, but it got worse as time went on especially when it was colder out. We had it looked at and was told that someone didn't put the right oil in. Our reminder sticker didn't even specify the viscosity of the oil! It simply said SYN. I did thankfully have the receipt and Hadsell used SYN OW-20. NOT the SAE OW-16! As we were told by the dealership using 0W-20 oil in a car that specifically requires 0W-16 can cause it to run sluggishly because the thicker oil creates more friction and drag in the engine, which is designed with very tight tolerances for the thinner 0W-16 oil. This can negatively impact performance and fuel economy. The Toyota Rav4 can only sparingly use the OW-20 occasionally when needed. It shouldn't use the OW-20 time after time. And when OW-20 is used affects performance and fuel economy and is not the best to use. We called Hadsell to talk to them about this and was told they don't even carry the OW-16 and for our car they used OW-20. This didn't sit well with us because we asked them specifically and we feel like we were not told honestly. If they would have said something like: "Hey sorry but your car requires OW-16 and we only carry OW-20" then it would have been no harm no foul. It wouldn't have wrecked our trust and we could have went elsewhere for the oil. That would have been honesty instead of deception. It's that simple. People pay too much for their vehicles to just throw whatever in, and people deserve transparency and honesty. I take pride in my vehicle and I want it to have what it's supposed to have exactly. I don't cut corners on my vehicle because we pay a lot for them and obviously want them to last and perform well. Not just use whatever a place has on hand! So beware of this place and if you go here have them put everything in writing or on a print out BEFORE you have work done just to protect yourself. Pretty bad when you can't trust somewhere on a simple oil change.
