I called Chimney Fixers to get a second opinion on my chimney. Dan showed up the next day after calling, was incredibly polite, and took my calls after hours to better explain why the solutions he was proposing were going to work. He confirmed the bad news that it needed some major work, but was able to walk me through some solutions that could help in the meantime until a full rebuild was done. He discovered several underlying problems that other contractors didn’t see. The day of the work, Alex and Mich came to the house and performed the work quickly and neatly. Later in the day I turned my furnace back on and heard some debris from the chimney work fall into it, I immediately turned it off to prevent any damage, and called Alex. He responded back to the house within 30 mins, and fixed the issue. These guys were very patient with all of my questions, and were extremely polite and professional.
This was my first experience working with Chimney Fixers and it turned out to be extremely beneficial. Eventual scope of work: Demo firebox, install Ahrens fire system and stainless-steel liner, parge smoke chamber.
In September (2025) I had contacted another firm to clean and inspect my wood burning fireplace/chimney. I won’t mention the name of the firm although they are well-known and advertise frequently in the Pittsburgh area. Their report was that due to cracked chimney tiles my fireplace was unsafe to use and they (aggressively) recommended that I install a wood burner since the cost to restore to a wood burning fireplace would cost in excess of $20,000. The estimate for the wood burner was approximately $13,000.
To be honest I was stunned at both figures and opted for a second opinion. I scheduled service with Chimney Fixers but did not share the report from the first firm. Felix arrived and explained the process and what he’d be looking for, in addition to the cleaning. When he was finished he said that he had both good and bad news:
1. I had had a small chimney fire but enough of one that the tiles were cracked and the fireplace was unsafe to use (bad news).
2. Chimney fire repairs were usually covered by home owners’ insurance (good news).
He provided an estimate for the repairs as well as a report – including photos – for me to submit to my insurance company. My insurance company initially denied the claim stating the photos didn’t provide enough evidence of a chimney fire, so I requested an in-home inspection from them. I also asked Felix if he could be attendance for the insurance inspection and he agreed to attend. Upon visual inspection, a chimney fire was confirmed and additional work was approved to bring my 80-year-old fireplace/chimney up to code (the Ahrens system).
The work was scheduled over several days. There were two separate 2-man crews (demo and install) and both crews were very professional and diligent in their work. At the end of each day, they meticulously cleaned up the work area (my living room!). I was impressed with their attention to detail as the Ahrens system was custom built to fit my fireplace and they basically had one chance to get it installed correctly. In order to finish the project by Christmas, but also not to rush the process, the installation crew worked from 8:30 am until after 7:00pm for two days. The project was completed December 23, 2025.
I want to thank and commend Felix, the two crews and April (office manager) for not only their excellent work, but also for their very personal and respectful approach – making it seem like it was long-term friends who were doing the work as opposed to some unknown contractors. I heartily recommend them for any fireplace/chimney work you need done.
Incredibly impressed! Jake and Josh serviced our chimney in incredibly fast time! They even stayed late on the last day to make sure it was finished before Christmas. They were professional, always cleaned up and kept us in the loop of what was happening. I would highly recommend this company and these two service providers Jake and Josh! Happily burning already!
Chimney Fixers was very good to have work done at our home. We had chimney work, new cap, liner and Wood burning Fireplace Insert installed. Bruce, Santiago and Matt really worked hard and did an excellent job. Install Manager Jathan and Inspector/Sales Matt all were polite and professional. We would not hesitate to have them provide any Fireplace Insert or chimney to be performed in the future.
