We recently hired Kolby to help replace our old gas water heater with a new unit we purchased, and to be honest I have pretty mixed feelings. At first things were great - we were scheduled Thursday that same week, the quote was less than we expected and said it included disposal of the old unit; he called to update us the morning of our appointment to let us know his current job ran a little late and gave a new eta, showed up and got to work, friendly dude. We didn’t realize how bad the old unit was until he started working on it, so at no fault of his own the job took quite a bit longer than expected and ended up being more complex than a simple replacement. When all was said and done he said he’d have to come back the next morning with some help to haul away the old unit because there was still quite a bit of sediment buildup that he couldn’t clear - which was totally reasonable given how heavy it is still and its location in the basement. We agreed, pulled out some cash that night and planned to pay him extra for all the unexpected work we put him through…but then we just never heard from him again. I tried calling the next afternoon but no answer, so I left a message just checking in to see if we maybe misunderstood and wanted to touch base about a new eta. Discovered the hours posted online said they were actually closed Friday-Sunday, so I waited til Monday and tried to call again but it went straight to voicemail. At this point I’ve called maybe a handful of times over the last two + weeks, left two different voicemails, and haven’t heard a word. After he left we discovered that our kitchen faucet didn’t work - presumably clogged by some of the sediment from when he had us try to flush the line while he drained the old unit - so we had to fix/replace that. Our washer drain hose had been removed so he could drain the water heater, but he never reattached it (good thing we noticed before we started laundry). We found a couple buckets full of water that he’d tucked back behind the washer from when he was draining the old heater and had to clean those up. And now we have to figure out how to haul the old unit out of our basement and rent a truck to dispose of it. I don’t normally write reviews and I’m super appreciative of the work he did do, but the lack of follow-up and zero communication after the fact is pretty frustrating so I just thought I’d put this out there as a soft warning for others.
