Wise Owl Clock Repair

I brought my 1930’s antique wall clock in for a tune up in January and had to keep following up monthly until I got it back in mid-April, but the clock was in worse shape and kept clanging non-stop. I was told that a student had worked on it so there was no charge and only a gratuity requested. The original clock-key used by my long-dead grandparents was lost and was told later that I didn’t need to bring the clock key to the shop. I brought the clock back and a couple of months later called to find it was ready to go. Now the gong hammer strikes make a sickly sound, the glass face cover is bent and won’t close properly and the clock runs five minutes faster and needs adjusting every few days. The owner seems overwhelmed and disorganized based on my experience and observations of the shop. If your timepiece is a treasure or family heirloom I would think twice about employing this business. Nice guy, but not worth the risk to me.

Mike is very knowledgeable on his chosen subject of clocks. Stopped in unannounced to see if he could work on my great grandmother's clock. He immediately let me know that he was backlogged, which was appreciated. Since this clock has been out of commission over 9 years, I told him it was no hurry. He fiddled inside a bit, and got it running. He suggested an oiling, and see how it does, before he dives into it further. I appreciated his honesty and willingness to get a quick look at what might be a problem. By the way, since my watch was running slow, he immediately changed the battery and adjusted the band.
