My ice maker on my refrigerator/freezer wasn’t working. I attempted to troubleshot the issue turning to the web to assist. It seemed that the symptoms would indicate a bad opto sensor board. I decided to call Triangle Appliance service to come I out and fix it. First, they could get me scheduled until 2 weeks out!. Then the service tech came to perform the repair. He determined that the ice container wasn’t seated correctly. He left and said it would take several days to see if that was the problem. It wasn’t! So Nick, the service tech came out again. This time he determined that I needed a whole new ice maker. It cost me $295.25. He said the cause was that the drive motor was stripped. He left and again stated that it would take a couple of days to fill the ice container. Well a couple of days later still no ice cubes! I call them again to tell them the ice maker still wasn’t working. Nick came out again and now determined that the opto sensor board had actually failed. This is what I told Nick was the problem in the first place! He replaced this part and charged me another $257.79. He even asked me if I wanted the original ice maker put back in. I declined as he said the motor was stripped out. We’ll see if this rice maker is actually fixed! I cannot recommend Triangle Appliance services. There troubleshooting skills are questionable and the timings of customer service isn’t good. I also had another refrigerator leaking issue previously and it took Triangle Appliance service three attempts to resolve the issue. I guess I am a member of the slow learners club by repeatedly using this local company!
