After almost ten years of use, I figure I’m qualified to rate my Travis Industries, Cape Cod stove. Overall rating… excellent. We live in Canaan Valley, WV in an approximately 3,100 square foot house. Canaan Valley is known for being a cold spot. Several times a year it is the coldest location in the lower 48 states. Most recently, on January 31, 2026 the National Weather Services reported the lowest temperature in the lower 48 at -28⁰... in Canaan Valley, WV. Our Cape Cod stove has been extremely reliable. Depending on how you use it you could take the chill of the room or heat your entire house. We choose the latter. In November, I turn our gas furnace off and use the stove to heat till sometime in March. Upstairs is usually 74⁰, downstairs, in the basement by the stove it’s a bit warmer. The catalytic converter is a plus. Added heat and less air pollution. When engaged there is no visible smoke from our chimney. That said, it causes a bit of extra effort. The fire needs to be above 500⁰ to keep it from clogging. Removing and cleaning it is a bit of work. I recommend buying the catalytic monitor thermostat to protect the catalytic converter. It’s amazing how adding wood to the fire affects the temperature. I’ve seen the fire temperature drop 150⁰ when adding a couple of logs. Overall, the Cape Cod stove is beautiful, functional, and reliable. I can’t ask for much more. I expect Travis Industries puts the same quality into every stove they build. On a final note, Warner Hearth & Patio in Cumberland, MD has supported us all these years. Great people. If you’re near Cumberland, they are worth the trip. Tim McGowan Canaan Valley, WV
