Had a pretty good crack on my phone screen causing it not to work. Took over a week and a few days to get repaired thanks to delayed shipping parts. But he was very good communicating the delays and was very prompt at fixing my phone when the parts came in. Highly recommend tech medics!
Great company to do business with! Dropped off a phone for a screen repair, turn around time was under an hour and very reasonably priced. 100% would recommend!
I called Tech Medics to see if they could fix my cracked MacBook screen. They were able to order the screen in a day and get my screen fixed in an hour. Being a graduate student, I rely on my computer so THANK YOU - they were so quick and so great.
My phone provider recommended me to come to tech medics before using my phone insurance to replace my phone. Nothing happened to it for it to stop working, it just shut off fully charged, and wouldn’t power back on. I dropped it off at tech medics and when I returned deciding to just use my insurance and replace the phone, he broke the back glass of my iPhone when taking it apart. He said he would just not charge me the $40 bench fee , but if I wanted him to replace the back that he broke, that he would charge me and stated that it wouldn’t matter if I sent it in shambles using my insurance. It absolutely did make a difference because without physical damage it would have been covered under warranty, but with the physical damage he caused, I had to pay my insurance deductible. Both T-Mobile and Best Buy employees were surprised he didn’t make it right and fix my phone without charging me but I wasn’t going to fight or try to convince him as I have enough going on and just want my phone fixed and working asap!
Went in with a pair of BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pros that had a damaged 3.5mm jack from an act of carelessness. Turnaround time was just under 3 weeks unless I am misremembering, cost was $40.
End result: The product works, but required some software tweaking to do so properly.
The mediocre review for the repair stems from a few concerns, although admittedly I did not pursue having one of them fixed, although I potentially could have requested it. None of the concerns involved customer service.
The issue most present in my opinion was lack of communication, as originally I had been under the impression that 2 weeks would be "worst case scenario" when inquiring on turnaround time. Although time was not a concern for me, it would have been nice to have a heads up without having to reach out. Although at no point throughout the process was he rude, short, or disrespectful, despite me feeling like I was potentially pestering him, he was very polite and easy to talk with, despite sounding very busy when I had called.
Ideally, I would have liked to be contacted twice.
The first was with him confirming I was alright without the slightly unique 3.5mm OEM jack that came with threading for a 1/4" TRS jack, and I was alright with any basic 3.5mm replacement, which I was a-ok with. This was confirmed only after I had called around the 1 week mark, during the call he admitted he wasn't quite sure how I wanted to proceed.
The second, was when he had received the parts to repair/replace the jack, succeeding the ok to use non OEM/alternative parts. This could have been a communication error on my behalf, as I did not specify I needed the 3.5mm jack with threading, in fact I completely forgot it was present.
The end repair was not the prettiest job, but a functional one nonetheless. The heat shrink used had been bolstered with electrical tape at the ends, and I have no doubt it will last (in theory) forever with my use case. However, the last issue arose which was that (I assume) the wires were soldered incorrectly, and the left/right channels were reversed. This can be completely fixed by software, which I have done, and I would deem it a mostly non-issue on its own.
With the combination of these things all together, I cannot recommend Tech Medics for this kind of audio repair, however I also acknowledge that I myself am quite oblivious to most of the repair process, pricing, and lack the tools/skills to do so myself. The price, mentioned before as $40, also seems on the less-expensive end, as hourly rates quickly can add up and usually are done at 1hr minimum price wise. And to reiterate, most importantly, the item itself was fixed and works properly (albeit with a bit of tweaking).
Given other reviews I have seen, I would not question bringing my laptop or phone here for diagnostics or repair, as he seems very knowledgeable. The shop itself gives off a "tech nerd" feeling first, and repair shop second, which would lead me to believe that he is passionate and has more than adequate skills for anything you would require.
