Really impressed with the promptness of sparkle pools. I live in Rockville and I’ve really struggled to find someone who will service our pool In a timely manner. Our local company decided not to serve us after we let too many leaves gather up on the cover and they had to remove them when they winterized last year… Although they came to close in mid November. Sparkle pools got us on the schedule two days after my first call and got it taken care of for us. Highly recommend!
I know its long - Pool install approximately 3 weeks ago - They have been out 3 previous times for issues already. I had called last week and notified them that I suspected a leak. They said someone would be out. No one had come out. Yesterday morning the surface of my pool looked odd, I investigated and my pump was sucking air and the soil was wet on same side of pool. I stopped my pump out of fear of ruining my pump. As soon as the pump stopped, water started pouring out of the lid to the pump. I quickly retightened the lid to prevent more water loss. I notified the manager of what had occurred and they sent someone out for the fourth time. I had to call for a status update. The manager stated that the pump lid was leaking. I asked about water level and if they were going to refill the water loss ( $1k to fill originally). He said he would look into it. I received a call back from the manager a moment later for him to inform me of "1/4" water loss daily" is normal. They deny there is a leak and deny that the water loss was due to them. And yet when I referred back to his staff saying the pump lid was leaking the manager states that the pump lid was leaking then states "someone has opened the lid". No one has touched the lid except for me closing it to prevent more water loss. The manager states that the leak was not enough to lose that amount of water and " your water loss is due to evaporation". So in 3 weeks I have lost enough water on the 70-80 degree days to lose enough water that I can't safely run the pump?! Yes I lost my patience and the FBomb flew. It amazes me the lack of desire to back your work and want good customer outcomes. In the end, he basically told me they weren't going to do anything and to find someone else to provide my pool service.
I would not recommend.
DO NOT PAY FOR A POOL INSTALLATION!
Update for owner response 2: This is why I didn’t answer their calls. Note the condescending and contradictory responses to problems. I will upload drone pictures later to show Sparkle Pool’s incompetence, and the pool should have fit much, much better regardless of any slight difference in sizes.
Update for owner response 1: The pool I bought was the same size as the previous pool, because it was also installed by Sparkle as well; they told me themselves. If anyone wants to see a pic of geometry, see the picture attached.
You have been warned how they conduct business!!!
Original post:
I need to share my experience about Sparkle Pools to warn new pool owners. We were okay with paying about 8000 for an AG pool installation, with the expectation it was going to be installed in a professional manner. It was not done in a professional manner.
There was trash left all over the yard, including numerous pieces of duct tape and water bottles. The pool itself is horribly misaligned to our deck. The liner at the bottom of the pool was not smoothed out, it doesn’t appear they even tried smoothing the liner with all the bumps and dips. And worst of all, I found 2 small screws at the bottom of the pool with my feet.
When I brought up the misalignment of the pool, I was told it was because of the previous pool installation and to have room to put on a winter tarp. The pool is 6 inches on one side and 18 inches (plenty of room for a person to fall through) away on the other side. I realized at that point, any problems I have is not going to be fixed or acknowledged.
If you must use Sparkle for pool installation, make sure you or someone can be there during the install that is an expert on pool installation. That way you can make sure you’re getting the service you are paying for. Be aware though, it took them 3 days to install and they seemed to leave and return at random. You’ll have to be in a position to take a couple of days off of work on very short notice.
Update 1 (7/21/22): After a few weeks of use, the apparent insufficient amount of masonry sand is causing the liner to settle. Some places there are sharp, jagged spots that I can only assume are chunks of gravel. I fear, at the latest, next season I’ll have to deal (with my own money) with a damaged liner due to poor installation service. I will update as events occur.
