Talented cobblers are a dying breed and It's getting harder to find someone who you can trust with really good pair of shoes. Rafael has been taken care of my Allen Edmonds for years and because of him, they are still holding up strong. I've learned so much about how to take care of my shoes by bringing them into him. He uses all of the best materials, educates on different polishes and he's very reasonably priced. I don't know where I'll go if Rafael ever closes the business. But I know it won't be as good.

TL;DR: Excellent turnaround time and solid craftsmanship, but pricing—especially for Louboutin protective soles—was significantly higher than market rate. Nice work, just not a good value for the cost. ⸻ I was traveling to Maryland and decided to take advantage of the trip to get work done on several pairs of shoes. I dropped off three pairs total: • 1 pair of new Louboutin booties • 1 pair of new Louboutin heeled sandals • 1 pair of well-worn leather booties To his credit, the turnaround time was excellent. He promised a few days and delivered exactly that. The craftsmanship was good—clean, neat, and professional. The worn leather booties were nicely restored, and the cost for resoling and adding heel protection (just over $100) was in line with another quote I had received elsewhere. The issue—and the reason for the 2-star rating—is pricing for the Louboutins. I was charged $185 per pair to add protective soles to the Louboutin shoes. I was told this was because they were newer models and because he uses Italian materials rather than materials from China. While the work itself was well done, it was not noticeably different from what I’ve experienced with other reputable cobblers. I was refunded the cost for the sandals since they already came with a protective soles For context, where I live, protective soles on Louboutins typically cost around $90, though turnaround time can be longer. After the fact, I asked around and found the going rate for this type of work is generally well below what I was charged, even at high-end cobblers. I had read reviews stating this shop was reasonably priced, which was not my experience. If price is not a concern and you value fast turnaround, this may work for you. However, if you are cost-conscious or familiar with standard market pricing for luxury shoe protection, be sure to get a very clear quote upfront. Nice work—but for me, the pricing did not align with the value.
