Definitely get a second opinion after these guys give you a quote. We have only lived in our house about five years and we were having issues with our AC unit not turning on. They sent a technician out and the guy basically told me that we had to replace our entire HVAC unit which was going to cost $5000. They told me that the HVAC unit that we had was a cheap bottom of the barrel unit that didn’t have a great lifespan. I went on Google only to find that this unit is absolute top of the line one of the best ones money could buy and even has a 10 year warranty. There is absolutely no way that we would have to have to replace this whole entire unit. I called another company and they sent the guy out and he told me he could fix the problem in 30 minutes. He went in and added more refrigerant to our HVAC line and it has worked perfectly now well over a year later and he charged me 275$ We had done a lot of business with this company before, and it is a shame that they turned around and turned out to be low integrity and try to turn a low cost, low labor job into a $5000 replacement. Either this technician did NOT know his HVAC units well or he was straight up lying to my face calling our top of the line unit a cheapo model. In fact, the very first thing that the other technician noticed about our HVAC was that it was a well-known and known to be high quality, top-of-the-line unit. When I told him about the quote from prodigy saying that it needed to be replaced, he was an utter disbelief that any technician would see this unit and tell us that. This old trick may have worked before Reddit and Google existed, but it doesn’t fly now. Moral of the story go ahead and get a quote from these guys but get a second opinion, especially if they try to hit you with a large job. Posting this review now because times are hard for a lot of people and I hope that this saves someone from paying too much for an unnecessary repair or replacement.
