Dennis is a great repairman, but a horrible teacher. My husband took one of his Luthier classes for a week to build his own guitar. Every time Dennis put his hands on the guitar to "show how its done" he messed up the guitar severely. He drilled one of the tuner post holes off center, he screwed up the rosette and binding, ordered the wrong parts, haphazardly cobbled together a new piece that was shoddy, and fashioned a nut that buzzed severely. For $3,200 he should have had the patience to do it right. It felt like he was rushing my husband out the door. Half the time he wasnt even around to help with questions. He did not glue the bridge down, nor did he fashion a fretboard extension shim so now the fretboard is a rollercoaster. He wouldnt even put a finish on the guitar. For $3,200 dollars he should have done work that reflected that. When my husband asked him to fix a few of the mistakes he laughed in his face and said, "You're a luthier now, you fix it." Don't take his class if he offers it, all you are to him is a mortgage payment.
