Mikee from Lenny’s plumbing solved my stopped up plumbing. The blockage was fairly far down, but he resolved it efficiently and effectively and restored pipe drainage function. Very fast response time and reasonable cost. 5 stars from me!
Fortunately my contractor had Lenny’s Plumbing handle the entire new construction of my home in Old Metaire. They did an amazing job. So for over 30 years, I continued to have Lenny’s take care of the typical minor maintenance. However I experienced a drain line issue yesterday, so I called Jefferson Parish Public Works and Lenny’s Plumbing. The problem was the Jefferson Parish 6” Sewer Main was clogged with a tree root. JP unclogged it early this morning. Then Mike and Matt from Lenny’s Plumbing followed up with checking all our toilets, showers and sinks to make sure everything was working properly . Be prepared for unreasonable fees. Lenny's customer for many years. Called them to come help with a stuck sink drain popup. I confirmed the $90 trip charge when I scheduled the appointment and was informed this would go towards any repairs. I showed him the issue. He took a picture of the drain pipe under the sink and went to his truck to do some analysis and write up a quote. He returned and presented me with the typical annual maintenance plan sales spiel. He then quoted me $485 to replace this part which he did not have on his truck. He never touched any pipe or part of the sink. He did not attempt to get the popup stopper to come l... He did not attempt to get the popup stopper to come loose. I asked for a price breakout of parts and labor and he was unable to present this. I then asked him how long it would take to do the job and he answered 30-45 minutes. I asked him if he thought $400/ / hour was a fair price for the labor on this service and he replied that is what it costs to run their business. I didn't press further but I would bet good money he has no clue what it takes to run that business. I paid him his $90 trip charge and informed him I would not be calling them back. I had already tried to do this repair myself and decided I would spend the (assumed) $150 to get it fixed by a "pro". After he left, I went back to the sink and took a fresh look at the issue. I was able to move the pipes around and unscrew some additional parts. I was able to resolve the root problem and cleaned and lubricated the popup mechanism. All i needed at this point was a plastic nut to screw on and draw the drain tight and sealed. Multiple trips to hardware stores resulted no piece that would fit so I went to Home depot, bought a new $17 drain and pipe fixture and installed it. TLDR: Their "plumber" did zero diagnosis, touched zero pipes or materials, and was unable to show cost breakdown of the extraordinarily high cost quote, and lost a customer. In the end the only thing required was a plastic nut. My advice is to call an independent plumber or handyman instead.
