The upgraded suite is very nice and the extra $$ were very well worth it! Ely is a small town, but this La Quinta is an oasis for weary travelers. My only suggestion for improvement is to turn the hot water heater up a little bit, so the showers are hot.
Ive stayed at many La Quintas in the past and this is the best location Ive been to! The rooms and bathrooms looked new and clean, the ac/heat worked perfectly, and the breakfast area is very nice and spacious. The breakfast was great too: eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, bagels, muffins, toast, yogurt, fruit. I will 100% come back here to stay when we come back for the Great Basin!
I arrived at La Quinta by Wyndham Ely late at night with my three young children, exhausted after a long day of travel. I had a confirmed booking and a receipt from Booking.com, but the hotel refused to honor it. Despite showing all my documentation, they still turned us away. This created an incredibly stressful situation with tired kids and no room to stay in, exactly what you hope to avoid when you book in advance. I’ve never had a hotel deny a confirmed reservation before, and the lack of flexibility or willingness to help was really disappointing. Thankfully, we were able to get a room at the Holiday Inn 4 minutes away. Not only were they more accommodating, but the room was cheaper and the free breakfast was great. I wish I had booked there in the first place. I would not recommend La Quinta by Wyndham Ely based on this experience.
