If you enjoy paying premium prices for bottom-of-the-barrel lumber, this might be the place for you. The wood here was genuinely horrendous—warped, beat up, and full of defects. I kept wondering if I was digging through a scrap pile instead of a woodworking shop. The board-foot calculations were another fun surprise. Somehow the math never seems to work in the customer’s favor. I measured and calculated everything myself and still got overcharged. Apparently, basic math is optional when you’re ringing people up. And let’s talk about pricing—everything is wildly overpriced for the quality you get. You’d think you were buying premium, hand-selected lumber, but what you actually get is nowhere close. Do yourself a favor and drive somewhere else. The Hardwood Store of North Carolina near Greensboro and Tolbert Timber Company near Mount Airy both offer far better wood, fair pricing, and people who actually understand woodworking. After seeing how much better those places are, there’s zero reason to shop here. I won’t be back. EDIT after store response. The wood I purchased was not in the bargain bin; it was displayed right alongside "premium" lumber on the wall. The boards I described as warped were actually bowed, which is still a significant issue for any woodworking project. Additionally, the board-foot calculations were off because the boards were not 4/4 as stated on the tags. I would be more than willing to come into your store and speak with the manager. I can take pictures and show that these boards are not 4/4 thickness as advertised. I measured and calculated everything myself and still got overcharged, which seems to indicate a basic misunderstanding of math when ringing up customers. I hope you address these issues to provide better quality and accuracy for your customers.

Absolutely the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Walked in and 3 employees were talking at the checkout. 2 looked at me and kept talking amongst themselves. Another appeared from the back room , looked at me and kept walking. Walked the entire store twice and none of them asked me if I needed anything. Yes I found what I was looking for, but I had a few questions and because they didn’t feel the need to put this customer first, I left. Never had this problem at Rockler. PS. I was the only customer in the store at the time!!

My property management company happens to change door locks quite often every time a new tenant moves in. Safety of our client is top most priority. So I decided to surprise my maintenance crew with a power chisel so they don't have to keep hammering away all the time. I called Klingspor Shop and a pleasant gentlemen by the name of Dave answered my phone. We went through a few options and I decided to pick up an Arbortec power chisel from the store. When I arrived at the store which is located pretty close to Hanes Shopping Mall in Winston Salem......I was totally blow away with what they had. This is a woodworking enthusiast's dream come true. They would be like a kid in a candy store. Anything related to woodwork.....Kingspor has it. I also got to meet Dave in person and it was an absolute delight. He is absolutely knowledgeable about woodwork and his customer service was on point. He was even more joy to work in person than on the phone.. They have everything from carvers, chisels, saws, lathe machines, planers, sandpaper.....like everything. I just loved it and will not go anywhere else anymore if it's related to woodwork. This store is located in the Pavillion Shopping center. Hence there is plenty of parking around. Also, it is right off the Hanes Mall Blvd exit on I-40. So getting to this store is pretty quick by avoiding main street traffic.
