I don’t usually review business negatively, but for the sake of what I’ve been through with this company, I feel I have no other option. I have never spent so much money and experienced such a lack of professionalism. The sales follow up was good when deciding on what stove to buy. I picked the stove and ordered after 2-3 weeks of research. I was told that 6-8 weeks was the turn around time for install. I gave them 50% down. I was told in a few weeks they would schedule the install. After a month went by, I tried to call and get the install scheduled, but I was met with radio silence. I couldn’t even get anyone on the phone other than my salesman, who always promised to call me back but never followed up on that promise. I even tried to get in touch with the install side and was met with voicemail. I called over 5 times without response. Finally after 10-12 weeks my install was scheduled, but only after threatening to cancel my order. Come to find out(which was never disclosed to me by the salesman), the installation was subcontracted out. The install people came. Never once wore booties or took off their shoes. After sitting on my roof, they decided to just sit on my furniture without my permission. Upon installing the hearth pad, they scratched my wood floors. It was also the incorrect hearth pad. After my initial installation, I was left with the stove I ordered with the wrong pad, and it included free scratched flooring, scratched stove pipes and black fingerprints on my ceiling. Also, the bracket that secures the pipe in place leading into the ceiling had 4 out of 8 screws stripped, leaving the part loose and not really fastened to my ceiling. To top it all off, I was charged quite a bit over the estimate I was quoted (which was quite high to begin with). Clearly upset by this, I asked for these issues to be corrected. I was told it would be corrected, and 2 months later, the company sent someone out. They did swap out the hearth pad and scratched my flooring even more!, but I was told they can’t fix the other problems with the screws in the ceiling. They then used spray paint over the scratches on the stove pipes, and it honestly looks like an 5 year old kid could have done a better job. Fingerprints are still on my ceiling.. The stove itself is good, but I basically paid top dollar for poor craftsmanship and horrible service. Buyer beware!

Worked with Scott at the Topsham store to install a Morso 1410b into a cabin that never had a wood stove before. I am very happy with how everything turned out. Cosmetically the design Scott came up with looks great in my opinion! More importantly the stove functions perfectly!! For those new to wood stoves, compared to fireplaces wood stoves need a stronger draft (rising hot air out the chimney that creates a vacuum) because basically the wood stove has to “suck” air through the much more restrictive air intake to feed the fire. But despite running the stove pipe through the wall instead of the ceiling (90deg elbows slow, or weaken the draft), despite installing the stove in May (hotter outside temps slow, or weaken the draft), and despite very windy conditions (which can interfere with the draft), the stove easily got up to temperature and as can be seen in the photo both rows of secondary burn were firing…which indicates the stove was operating at maximum efficiency. Can’t ask for anything else! Highly recommend Hearth Doctor in Topsham for design and installation. I am very happy with how everything turned out. I would recommend the Morso 1410b wood stove too for smaller homes, but be aware you have to also be willing to work with 12” log lengths as maximum……though I find the 10”-11” lengths actually work best. UPDATE: It is December now and the wood stove has been in daily use for over a month. No issues at all with the wood stove or chimney. I found when reloading the stove that added firewood lights super easy if the embers are pushed to left and right to create a valley in the center for air to get under the new wood. Also bought the Soot Eater kit to sweep my own chimney. With the exterior clean out Tee installed by the Hearth Doctor, it is so very easy to sweep the chimney that I have been sweeping every month. Not needed to do it that often of course (once or twice a year would be “normal”), but it is just a few minutes work. Can confirm the system is operating perfectly with clean burning and no excessive creosote buildup occurring.

Seemed to be very knowledgeable and helpful. Service hasn’t occurred yet. Can write a review better after. So had my service today. Technician was awesome. He brought my stove back to life again. Fixed with needed parts that were right in his service vehicle. No need to reschedule so no need for a second service call which I thought was amazing. Felt the overall expense was very reasonable. Highly impressed and recommend Hearth Doctor!! 🤗 It’s been a couple of weeks now and I could not be happier with what they did to fix the problems with my Yodul fire box in the place I bought. It’s like a brand new stove and it was 25 years old!
