The gentleman behind the counter was very kind and knowledgeable. They had what I needed in stock and had me in and out very quickly.
1/27/25: I again went to Grimmer’s to find the part I needed. They had it. I am amazed that they are about the only electronics supplier in the capital district. They are the best place to go to. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Five stars!
I have been dealing with Grimmer's since 1969. The level of customer service simply cannot be compared to any of their competitors. The ingrained product knowledge of the owner is a huge benefit to technicians, whether they work in corporate R&D centers, home entertainment fields, or vintage and antique radio and TV restoration. The product selection is vast and dates back to the 1950s in some cases, balanced by the availability of cutting edge parts and equipment. I noticed a negative review mentioning racism. From the early 70s through the 90s I in was in Grimmer's if not daily at least twice a week or so. To this day I still stop in for parts or conversation about locating obscure antique parts. I watched the owner help people of all races and walks of life. Everyone was treated exactly the same. Questions were answered politely, no matter how off-base or uninformed they may have been. Products were located for customers, everyone getting as much research time from the owner and staff as they needed to identify their part, and the owner's concern that they got the right part was obvious. Even argumentative customers were treated with respect. The racism allegation is, to me, astonishing. A good number of the customers in the store at the times when I was there were Black, and they were treated just as I was, and shown just as much courtesy and respect. However that is just the opinion of someone who has observed Grimmer's in operation for 50 plus years; what do I know? :)
