tl;dr -- This is your company to use for anything that is chimney/ fireplace / wood-burning stove related. I burn fires from October through spring every year in my wood-burning stove, so I have the chimney cleaned regularly. The companies I've used in the past have been hit or miss. I decided to try a new vendor, and chose Delaware Chimney Services based on the fantastic reviews here on Google. Boris and his crew came out and did a fantastic job cleaning the chimney and stove. In the midst of the cleaning, I mentioned to Boris that I was also concerned that I needed to get some masonry work done on the exterior of my house (near the chimney), because I started seeing water stains on the drywall ceiling near the wall next to the chimney. Boris suggested that it was probably not an issue with the stone work/flashing on the side of the house; rather, he felt there was a good chance the issue was with the current chimney cap. So Boris and crew climbed onto the roof to start the cleaning and to inspect things. He took photos from on top of the roof to share with me so that I could see what it looked like before and afterward. He showed me how the existing chimney cap was flat and that it was allowing water to pool on top of the cap, resulting in rust and a few pinhole leaks. Additionally, Boris showed me how the original chimney cap installer attached the cap to the chimney with screws ON TOP of the cap, instead of on the sides. Pulling the cap, one could see (through the photos he took and shared with me), that there WERE water stains running down the interior of the chimney housing (my stove has a single stove pipe running up the center of the chimney housing), and I could see where those drips were then hitting the ceiling next to the chimney. Boris solved it. At that time, he quoted me to build a custom cap (that was pitched to prevent water from pooling, and would be affixed to the chimney properly). His pricing was reasonable. The cleaning service was perfect. The final product is easily superior to what was there before. On top of that, Boris (and his crew) are SUPER nice. Very communicative. Delaware Chimney Services is who I will use every time.
