I hired Delairs Carpet and Flooring for quartz countertops and a matching backsplash for a project in Waitsfield. The final product looks fine, but the experience getting there was chaotic and unprofessional. What went wrong: The templating appointment was scheduled for 11:00am, but the templater arrived around 8:00am with no notice and complained the site wasn’t ready—despite the agreed-upon time. The full install (counters + backsplash) was scheduled for 11/25. The countertops were installed, but the backsplash was completely forgotten, even though it was clearly included in the written estimate. Over the following weeks, I was given constantly changing explanations (fabrication not done, equipment failure, parts delays) with no reliable schedule. Delairs had subcontracted this out to another vendor. Communication deteriorated. Calls and follow-ups were met with defensiveness and dismissiveness rather than solutions. I was told to 'work with the subcontractor directly'. One phone call escalated to the point where Jason became confrontational, said he was “done,” and hung up on me, leaving the job unresolved. Eventually, the backsplash was completed, but only after significant delay, stress, and unnecessary involvement on our end. The counter tops were also never sealed. Bottom line: The workmanship is acceptable, but project management and communication are extremely poor. This job required far more oversight from my end than it should have, and timelines were not respected. If you choose this company, get everything in writing, expect delays, and be prepared to chase them to finish the work.
