DBS was professional, but my experience was frustrating. In September, I got a quote to improve home insulation. I raised concerns about whether the existing attic access (about 17” x 17”, above basement stairs with a PVC vent nearby) would be large enough. I was reassured the crew could access the attic, and the project was scheduled to put in additional insulation and spray foam. They told me to buy a new attic cover and would install it during the job. When the crew arrived in December, they were unable to fit, so the job could not proceed. Alternative options were mentioned, but DBS does not manage or coordinate that work, leaving me to handle next steps myself. The biggest issue is timing — this all surfaced in December, resulting in a winter delay that likely could have been avoided with a more realistic initial assessment. I would have preferred a clearer plan or a start-to-finish solution.
Contracted with DBS for some concrete lifting and repair on my front porch steps that have sunk, and concrete steps to the sidewalk that slid downhill and pushed the landing above the sidewalk. Contract stated they would lift the porch steps and block to support, and remove and replace the landing that had shifted, while leveling the rest of the sidewalk, though my only concerns were for the steps. Crew came, filled the entire void of the porch with foam that lifted nothing, and simply cut off the end of the landing concrete, making a sharper and more awkward step with crumbling concrete visible. They then sent me an invoice for the full remainder, to which I responded with the unacceptability of the work and demanded a refund. $3400 total, received a call offering to drop the total to $2100 and gaslighting me about the experience and insisting on the quality of the work while making excuses about what was done and why. So, $2100 for some hidden foam under a sidewalk and some sanded joint caulk, while my actual concerns and contracted items are unmet. I recommend looking elsewhere for your projects, or having a professional review of the contract as I am looking into. Edit: After reviewing the work in person they sent another crew to correct the cast steps and subcontracted the landing, so I have updated their score. I personally won't be utilizing their services in the future, your mileage may vary.
Nick and Rob were the ultimate professionals and kept us informed of all the steps of our project. Top-notch service! This has been the easiest project I have ever scheduled. AMAZING!
