On July 12th, 2025, I got a quote from Paul Conklin representing NEW DAY CONSTRUCTION to replace my metal roof. July 28th the new roofing was dropped off, which was the completion week on the contract, the next day got a message stating that his crew would like to start the roof the following week. They never showed. By the middle of October I sent a message stating that I signed a contract that stated the work was to be done back in July, and gave him the option to get the roof done or refund me the labor pay ($4,000) that he requested and part of the material cost (total of $6,000) due to not all the materials were dropped off. I never received any message for two weeks, still haven't received anything to date (12/4/25), I filed a claim with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) which they have also tried to contact the company and have not received any reply. I am out $10,000 with having to move the material out of my driveway due to winter and still have a roof that will form ice and leak into my house if I don't remove the ice weekly if not more often.

Paul of Capital home improvement is the last person you should call to repair anything. He is unreliable, unorganized, overpriced, and is a bold faced liar. They don’t have any internal employees and rely on second and third tier sub contractors. Thats ok if you can get them to show up.. Unprofessional left trash everywhere and I spent 2 weeks picking up roofing nails. They attempted to install windows as well, still dealing with those issues… TAKE YOUR MONEY ANYWHERE ELSE, THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST CONTRACTORS ON THE EAST COAST.

Update 4/8/2025- Paul Conklin has rebranded Capital Home Improvements to "New Day Construction." Syracuserenovations The owner of Capital Home Improvements Paul Conklin met with us August 3rd 2024 about a large project on our house. The work began promptly on August 4th. The work included, new roof, siding, windows, gutters, garage door, sliding glass door, adding a covered porch, sidewalk and concrete removal, basement waterproofing and attic insulation. Paul has received multiple checks from us totaling $65,000. To date (October 11th 2024) only the roof is done. The siding is incomplete and poorly done, not one window is finished. Empty "Twisted Tea" bottles were found throw around with the rest of the junk in our yard. Nobody in our family drinks so i wonder where they came from? Our yard is trashed with garbage and it's tore up. Slowly the workers stopped showing up and Paul removed the Capital Home Improvements sign from our yard. Paul won't respond to calls or texts asking to meet. Only one day in the past 3 weeks has anybody showed up to work. This was because there was a bay window sitting in our driveway not installed. It was installed, but like the rest of the windows not completed. Two and a half months and $65,000 invested and this is what we get from Paul Conklin and Capital Home Improvements. We have contacted the attorney general, BBB and our personal attorney. Our house has been ruined, windows are not sealed and winter is approaching. The amount of stress this has put on our family is unacceptable. Update, 10/18. Still haven't heard or seen from Capital Home Improvements. OCWA stopped by today because our water meter was disconnected from the side of the house where they were putting siding. Also, some of the completed siding on the front of the house started falling off. The house is very cold at night and in the morning since all of the windows are unfinished and unsealed. This includes my daughter's room that has two of the unfinished windows. Update 4/3, Nothing has been done on our house since December 9th. Everything remains unfinished. I had to purchase some paver stones and make a walkway into our house since it was left a muddy mess. Our yard is destroyed and looks terrible. We have no gutters, they took our storm door and never replaced. Windows are still unfinished inside and out. All winter our house was cold. Some of the siding that was actually installed blew off the house. Paul Conklin has ruined our lives. Our house has been destroyed by Capital Home Improvements (Paul Conklin).
