I pre-paid for repairs, and mailed my stemware to Bruening in April 2025. I was told the repair would be finished in 12 weeks. I called several times beginning in September, and during the last call, I was promised the glassware would be returned within 2 weeks. Never happened. I finally called my credit card company & requested a refund, which I got. My damaged glassware was not returned, which could have been repaired elsewhere. This company's work may be exceptional, but their customer service is horrible.
Ok, so this project took over a year to come back to me. This globe was busted when the electrician took it down and the glass is SO thin. If you work with Marc the process will NOT be fast. He is just one person and you know the reason you’re sending it to him is because he’s the only one who can fix it. He’s incredible at what he does. My idiot self tried to super glue it back together so it literally needed to soak for months just to get the glue off. I would call about once a month and remind him that I’m thankful he’s working on it for me and chat.
He did an amazing job. This was a pretty small job I think on the scale of what people are sending him. Just keep your expectations reasonable and be nice.
If I could give Marc a -5 stars I certainly would.
In December 2022, while carefully cleaning my 94 year old mum’s beloved chandelier that she and my dad brought home from an Italian import shop in San Francisco in the 1970’s, I dropped one of the hand made glass leaves and it broke in half.
I felt sick about it, as my dad has recently passed, and she has fond memories of their travels.
Forward to October 2025, after two years and nine months I finally received what I thought was a package with a new glass leaf for my mum’s vintage hand blown Italian chandelier from Marc Konys.
Instead, I received the same two pieces that I originally sent him, in February 2023, wrapped up, apart, in the same sheet of bubble wrap.
Needless to say, I was shocked!
I immediately phoned Marc to ask him, “what kind of a joke he was playing “?
He was immediately furious with me and said that he ,”did what I had asked; a repair”.
I said, “No. I asked for a whole new leaf, it wasn’t even repaired, the two pieces that I sent were returned separately, not in any way put together “.
He was very angry and short with me, asking me if I wanted a refund and I said, “Yes”.
He then abruptly hung up on me.
Initially, when I broke it, I thought that I could glue it together by myself, but due to the angle of the stem, and the weight of the leaf, it wouldn’t work.
Back in February of 2023, I had sent Marc pictures of the chandelier with the remaining in tact leaves and also pictures of the
broken leaf and
Marc told me that he could indeed make a replacement leaf and that it would cost me around $300.00 to “get it on his bench “and I agreed.
He told me specifically how to ship the item, and
so, February 2023 I sent the broken leaf to him as a model that he could use to make a new one.
After about one year, I began contacting Marc, as I was wondering about the process taking so long, but he wouldn’t answer his phone.
After one and a half years of leaving voice messages and not hearing back, I then asked my brother to call Marc, as I felt that he was screening my calls, which I had now escalated to monthly occurrences.
So, at around 2 years of waiting, my brother called from Washington State and made inquiries with Marc, he then agreed to send the new leaf out to me promptly.
Nine months and two years later, in September 2025 and here we are…
Since he has proven himself to not be a man of his word, who knows if or when I will even receive my full refund.
If, by some miracle Marc decides to refund me in full, I will update here.
My precious mum is going to be 97 in January 2026 and I am very upset with the whole situation.
Marc was awesome. Friendly, good communications, responsive to all my questions. The lamp globe arrived, and it was perfect. It was a hand-painted antique lamp shade that was broken in 3 pieces, and I couldnt even find the repair. So well done - thanks Marc. It is wonderful to get an heirloom back as good as "new" - thank you! Semper Fi.
I had a sentimental glass beer mug that I had put a nasty chip in the lip area. I was devastated, sent Mark a picture asking if he could fix it and within two hours he’d emailed back saying he could. Yes, it took just over 6 months but it was well worth the wait. He was honest about his workload and time, he’s the repair man and his own secretary. Good things take time. He chased the cracks and made my mug usable again!! He was nice to deal with over the phone and fun to talk to. A stand up guy offering a one of a kind service. If you need his kind of services I can’t recommend him enough.
